PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE ATTACHED A MATH AND A READING REVIEW SHEET IN YOUR CHILD'S AGENDA TODAY. THIS HAS ALL THE SKILLS THAT YOUR CHILD WILL BE TESTED ON IN THE EOG'S. YOU MAY REVIEW THE SHEET WITH YOUR CHILD AND ASK FOR EXTRA HELP IF THERE IS AN AREA YOU THINK YOUR CHILD STRUGGLES IN. I TRIED TO MAKE IT CLEAR AND SIMPLE SO IT IS EASY TO USE AND REVIEW.

I am so proud of each and every child in my class and I believe they are prepared and ready to do the tests. It has been a long year of hard work but they have worked their socks off and I am truly thankful to have worked with them and see them grow, both academically and personally. I have talked to the class about the tests and how if they give me 100% effort, I will be pleased whatever the outcome. We talked about how these tests don't test how they are amazing dancers, cheerleaders, baseball players, basketball players, football players, artists, singers.....The most important thing is that they are UNSTOPPABLE! They can be whoever they choose to be. So thank you for supporting your child. I look forward to seeing what they can do!

NEXT WEEK

MATH: We will be reviewing some skills that the class still need practice on.

READING: We will be reading Ivan and doing some activities around the book. We will also be working on our writing project about Rhinos in danger.

SCIENCE: Finishing off science and social studies projects and activities.

EOG'S

Next week is EOG week. The tests will begin promptly at 8am. Any child who arrives after this time will not be able to sit the tests. Please ensure your child is in the classroom on time to give them time to settle down. A good sleep and breakfast will be great, as they will not be able to have a snack during the morning until everyone has finished testing (3 hours).

TOP SECRET!!!!

Big image

Please send in your child's letter by Tuesday, so that I can put them to one side ready to hand out on Wednesday. We plan to give the children their letters in the afternoon along with a goody bag of positive notes and treats for the evening before the tests.

I will write letters for any child who does not have a letter sent in by Tuesday. Thank you for the letters already sent in.

EOG Breakfast & Snacks

Big image
On each morning of the EOG's, I will be providing the class with some healthy snacks (fruit, nature valley bars, OJ) as they will be unable to eat a snack or have a drink until everyone has finished testing (potentially up to 3 hours). Therefore, if you would like to send your child in with any extra snacks for the class, it would really help us out. I thought about getting grapes and bananas and having some snack bars and fresh juice. Anything we don't eat, we can eat afterwards for snack time. Thank you if you are able to help out. I have found in the past that it has helped children be more alert and ready for the tests. I want to make it a nice experience...or try to at least!

REVIEWING WORK

As we get closer to the EOG's you may be wondering what you can do to help support your child at home.

One of the things we recommend it reviewing your child's work in their Wednesday folder. We review some of this work where necessary but do not review everything. You are welcome to keep the work for an extra few days if this is helpful, and then sign and return everything to be filed. Below is a link to all the released items that you can practice with your child.

Reading regularly is also important. Listening to your child read and having a discussion about what they are reading is a great way to get your child thinking about what they are reading.

BOX TOPS

Please save your box tops and turn them in at any point during the term!

Thank you so much to everyone who brought them in. The next collection will be May 13th.

Thank you again for supporting our school.
