Cape's Mission & Vision

Mission: To provide a safe and supportive learning community where every student experiences success.

Vision: We believe that the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Cape Elementary is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community.

Message from Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund

Dear Cape Families,

April was a wonderful month at Cape Elementary. We had an excellent turnout for our PTO Spring Fling and online PTO Silent Auction. Over 1,200 people attended Spring Fling.

Our Quarter 3 SOAR Celebration was a HUGE success with 85% of Cape students attending. Students who reached their behavior and reading goals celebrated by playing on bounce houses, obstacle courses and Rolling Video Games. Special thank you to PTO for funding the SOAR Celebration for our students.

Our 4th and 5th graders did an outstanding job on the ELA Writing portion of the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) and our 3rd graders also rocked the ELA portion of FSA. Our students will continue to show everyone what they have learned in English Language Arts, Math and Science! FSA will continue in the month of May. Please look for the dates in this newsletter and on our website. Limited homework will be given during FSA testing days.

Please make sure your children are:

  • well rested

  • fed a nutritious breakfast

  • sent off with love, smiles and hugs

  • at school each day by 7:45

Mark your calendars now: May 2 through May 6 is Staff Appreciation Week at Cape Elementary. Please take a few minutes to thank a teacher or staff member during this week. We have special treats and activities planned for our staff all week. Special thanks to Jim Fischer - Century 21 Sunbelt Realty, the Banks family - South Florida Milling, Metro Diner, The Greek Spot, Starbucks and our awesome PTO for your donations. If you would like to donate to our treats and/or $10 gift cards to raffle off to staff members throughout the week, please email us at We appreciate your help and support in showing our love and appreciation for our hardworking staff.

Cape will have Celebrations of Learning, end of year awards ceremonies, via Zoom for Kindergarten to 4th grade on Tuesday, May 31st. The 5th Grade Completion Ceremony will be held in the Cape Elementary Cafeteria on Wednesday, June 1st. Please look in this newsletter and on our website for specific times and mark your calendars now.

Thank you to the Rotary Club for donating books to our library. These books are in the genre of poetry, to help fill that need, with the new BEST standards adding so much in the way of poetry study.

We are so excited to share that we will be getting new carpet and flooring throughout the entire school. They will begin the installation process when school is out and will work throughout the summer. When students arrive next school year, they will be surprised with the results.

Cape Elementary is a special place to work. We are honored to be the leaders of this great school! Please continue to contact us via email or phone call when you have a concern, question or comment!

Yearbooks for Sale!

PTO News!

The end of the 2021-2022 school year is almost here! We are so thankful for each and every person who has helped support our great school! This year Cape PTO has purchased a new playground sunshade, school supplies, SOAR celebrations, library books, field trip buses and so much more! This would not have been possible without our wonderful parents and guardians.

Our Spring Fling Carnival was a HUGE success! We had over 1200 in attendance, sold over 20,000 tickets, and the teachers made record amounts for each grade with their carnival games. Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped us set up! Guys! It was a legit carnival minus the carney workers! Looking out at the PE Field I was overcome with joy and may or may not have shed a tear of happiness to see so many families. Seeing all of the kids running, playing with their friends, and having a good time is my PTO why. I am so grateful to have this opportunity to give back to Cape Elementary!

Our online Spring Fling Auction raised a record amount for Cape Elementary at just under $10,000! Thank you to all who bid on the wonderful items provided by members of our amazing community! This auction would not have been as successful without the help from Camilla Schlager. Thank you for stepping up to help solicit donations & share your past auction experience!

The last PTO meeting of the year will be on May 11th at 6:00pm via Zoom. Please plan to attend to find out what we've been up to. Reach out if you are interested in becoming a part of our PTO board or just helping out!

In closing I'd like to give my heartfelt thanks to my amazing board members! There are long hours spent planning & executing, all while working full time, that take us away from our families. Without you there would not be a PTO at Cape Elementary! Shout out to all of our husbands who found themselves voluntold at our events or holding down the fort at home. It takes a village and I'm thankful to have you all be a part of mine!
