We finished our students' week with our annual Red Ribbon Activity Night. This is an event we sponsor each year that showcases our commitment to students on being drug free and having fun without the use of harmful substances. Monday is the start of the theme days which will be as follows:
Monday - PJ Day - Don't sleep your life away with drugs
Tuesday - Crazy Sock/Crazy Hair - Be crazy about being drug free
Wednesday - Sports Team Apparel - Team up against drugs
Thursday - Wear Neon - My future is bright because I am drug free
Friday - Music Apparel - Being drug free is music to my ears
Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education. It encourages students to make a personal commitment to live drug- free lives with the ultimate goal of having a drug-free America.
In this edition, we feature an article on how students can spread kindness, some upcoming events, Students of the Week & Class Acts, and a few informational items. A few things to look for in the next few weeks: we are in the planning stages for an evening informational night/dinner for parents. Right now it's in the brainstorming phase, but I am excited to see what we come up with. As we nail down some details, we may request some information from you to tailor this evening to your needs. We will ultimately share out our plans for this exciting opportunity.
Lastly, within the last couple of weeks, our school management system, SchoolTool had the parent access/student access portal turned on. You should have received instructions for how to log on and utilize this tool to view students grades and attendance information. Should you have any questions or concerns with this, please let us know! Our hope is that this enhances and streamlines the communication between school and home and keeps everyone as informed as possible!
Hoping everyone enjoys a great (albeit soggy) weekend!
Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @WayneCentralMS to see some pictures and updates from around the school!
Sincerely,
Derek
