A Note About Attendance:
Last year the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education made a slight change to the system they use to hold schools accountable. DESE now holds schools accountable for the number of students that are “chronically absent” over the course of the year. Chronically absent means missing school 10% of the time…..or 2 days per month, 9 for the first half of the year or 18 over the course of the year.
Research has shown a direct correlation between student performance and attendance. Missing just 2 days per month can have a negative impact on student performance. Those days can add up fast over the year and we need your help. Poor school attendance not only impacts your child but also our school overall.
We fully understand that kids will miss school. Things come up, life happens and kids need to be out. Overall, however, we ask that you please do your best to ensure that your child is present on school days.
Should you have any questions about this or any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact us!

What is Character Strong?
Each week, we will use the Tiger Times to highlight some of the great things our faculty, staff and students are doing to prove we are CharacterStrong!!
Small Kindness Project
They each contribute their own money in order to do good. This month they chose the NMS 6th grade class as their focus. Their goal was to spread kindness and to promote anti-bullying.
On Wednesday, each 6th grader walked upstairs and was greeted by a beautiful sign (pictured below), in addition to ant-bullying wristbands.
We are so grateful to this wonderful group for thinking of us and truly showing what it means to be CharacterStrong and show Tiger Pride!
