Congratulations Teacher of the Year - Mr. Andrew Frye
The Blackman Elementary School family is proud to recognize our teacher of the year for 2016-2017, Mr. Andrew Frye. Mr. Frye is a fifth grade teacher here at Blackman Elementary.
Mr. Frye says, "I was blown away to be nominated as Blackman Elementary's Teacher of the Year for 2016-2017. I am so thankful and honored by this award!
In my classroom, we work every day to spread goodness and enact the change that we want to see in the world. My hope is that my students are instilled with a deep desire to learn and to use that knowledge to make the world a better place. The high expectations that I have for my students are a reflection of the expectations that I hold for myself. They know that at the end of the day, kindness and consideration are all that matter. "
Please join us as we congratulate Mr. Frye on being recognized by his peers as the 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year for Blackman Elementary School.
Kindergarten celebrates STEM-TASTIC Fridays!
Three down and ten to go. Stemtastic Fridays have been an exciting learning experience for our Kindergartners. So far our K students have engaged in three projects that have expanded their thinking (study on bouyancy, water cycle, and forming clouds). Through these fun and challenging hands-on activities the students have been able to dive into STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) activities to better explore and understand the world around them. Our goal this year has been to cultivate interest in the STEM field early and increase the students' awareness and curiosity. We have also involved parent volunteers in order for them to see first-hand the new expectations and depths of knowledge that their child will need to be successful in the ever changing future.
Thank you to all our volunteers who come in to help with Stem-Tastic Fridays. If you have some time to volunteer and would like to participate, please contact Mrs. Kim Marable.
BLE Celebrates School Choice Week during Family Reading Day
Held every January, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child.
The goal of National School Choice Week (NSCW) is to raise public awareness of all types of education options for children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
To meet this goal, NSCW encourages schools, organizations, and individuals to hold positive events that celebrate school choice options, while drawing attention to the need for even greater opportunities for children.
Blackman Elementary School celebrated the wonderful options that students have in Public Education at our January Family Reading Day.
