Message from the Principal
Dear Henry Ford Families,
Thank you to all the families that were able to participate in Trunk or Treat. I'd also like to thank those of you who were not able to participate, and did not show up to view the parade. I know it was hard to miss. But, by following the Covid protocols, you not only kept our kids safe, you were a positive role model for your children. They are always watching you and learn by example!
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
Conferences are being held virtually on Monday, November 22nd and Tuesday, November 23rd. Campus will be closed the entire week. You should be hearing from your child's teachers soon to set up an appointment. Translation is available to those who need it.
Conferences are an important component to your child's academic success. They help strengthen the relationship between families and school, provide time for parents to ask questions, share concerns and get strategies to support learning at home. During the conference, the teacher will review your child's progress towards mastery of grade level standards and the practices in place to ensure your child is making significant growth.

NUTRITION
In addition to creating a nurturing learning environment, Henry Ford works hard to promote healthy habits. Every student receives 50 minutes of PE twice a week. During PE, students stretch, run and play organized games. Our district is working hard to create balanced lunches that include whole grains, protein, fruits and vegetables. Please avoid sending sugary treats to school to celebrate your child's birthday. In addition to promoting healthy eating, many students have food allergies that can be life threatening. If you really want to send something to school for the class, please consider items that can be used at school (pencils, fidget toys, journals..).
PROJECT CORNERSTONE
Project Cornerstone is officially up and running! Thank you to all the classroom volunteers.
This month in your child’s classroom, students are reading Simon’s Hook. In this book, Simon is teased because he’s having a “bad hair day.” Simon’s Hook helps children learn that there are many ways to respond to teasing, and offers several examples of ways that kids can empower themselves and avoid becoming a victim of someone else’s hurtful behavior.
By teaching our children how to navigate friendships, peer relationships, and social cruelty, we create a stronger school community where all students feel safe and know that they belong.
To learn more about Simon’s Hook, you can visit the website at www.grandmarose.com.
