Becoming a Power User for Learning and Teaching

Duration: 3 Hours (8:00 am - 11:00 am) (12:00 pm - 3:00 pm)
Location: HHS LGI
Class Size: 20 max. (per session)
Teachers who attend will receive their MacBook Air to use for the summer.

Amplifying Learning Using Garageband

Making Data Meaningful with Numbers

Learn how to build meaning from data and display it in compelling ways by using built-in calculation tools, interactive charts, tables, and other expressive media.
June 21 & 22, 2016
Target Audience: All STOH Staff
Location: Lowell HS
Duration: 8 Hours EACH DAY
STOH Can Send: 20 max.
The overall theme of the conference revolves around engaging, equipping, and empowering students and staff through the purposeful use of educational technologies. Sessions are broken into three tracks and track information is provided to help attendees interested in certain topics. Attendees with a variety of interests are free to set their own schedule of sessions that interest them.
empowerED
empowerED sessions will focus on strategies that promote involvement from confident and innovative leadership at any level within a school corporation.
Topics include: technology coaching, student technology teams, planning a successful 1:1, strategic planning, evaluating teacher technology use, redefining learning spaces, next generation learning initiatives and more!
equippED
equippED sessions will focus on strategies for equipping students and school staff with the necessary tools and support for innovative teaching and learning.
Topics include: iPads/apps, Web 2.0 tools, websites, blogs, smartboards, movie making, 3D printing, STEM, Twitter, coding, using Google Apps and more!
engagED
engagED sessions will focus on instructional strategies for engaging students and stakeholders at any level within a school corporation.
Topics include: project-based learning, building maker spaces, classroom engagement in a 1:1, lesson design, digital citizenship/internet safety, and more!
Digital Citizenship: An Essential Teaching Tool
June 27 or 28, 2016
Target Audience: All STOH Staff
Location: Warren ES
Duration: 6 Hours (8:00 pm - 3:00 pm)
Class Size: 30 max.
Being a responsible and safe user of educational technology is a skill all students need. Robbie Grimes from EdTech Zone joins us to learn about how growing up in a digital world can be overwhelming for parents, teachers, and students alike.
This class will give teachers an introduction to the curriculum necessary to building good digital citizens.

Dive into the Googleverse on July 6 or continue your journey into deeper waters on July 7.
On July 6 Rachel Porter will join us and introduce teachers to our new Learning Management System (LMS) and to the advantages and collaborative abilities of Google Drive.
On July 7 Rachel will take teachers with Google experience deeper into Google apps and extensions. Fasten your seat-belts, the will be a fast and furious ride.
