Happy New Year and Welcome Back! We are having a spectacular week, and everyone is working towards giving their personal best as readers, writers, historians, and scientists! Here's a brief snapshot of how we're beginning the new year:


Literacy

  • Setting new reading goals for January
  • Comparing and contrasting texts
  • Using close reading to make sense of texts
  • Using evidence to write constructed responses to texts
  • Collaborating as writers to compose the content for the Environmental Science Fair boards

U.S. History

  • Investigating U.S. expansion overseas
  • Reading informational texts and poetry to form our own opinions about topics such as Manifest Destiny and US expansion overseas
