Room 106 News
For the week of February 16
Happy Tuesday!
I hope you enjoyed your three-day weekend! The students had a blast at the Valentine’s Day party last Friday! It was a great time to celebrate friendship and eat delicious treats!
Math
We will continue comparing the heights and weights of penguins! This week, we will focus on comparing the Little Blue and Gentoo penguins. We will also compare these heights and weights to our own, and learn about the Chinstrap penguin!
Social Studies
Last week, we learned a lot about the father of our country, George Washington! This week, we will dive deeper into the meaning of President's Day and why we celebrate it. We will also discuss Abraham Lincoln and what he did to impact our country. By the end of the week, the students will finish up their letters to President Obama and we will send them off to the White House!
Reading and Writing
Students will begin creating their own "How-to" books this week. This will include step-by-step directions, as well as pictures to accompany each step. We will also read "How-to" books, as well as continue our exploration of fantasy vs. nonfiction text.
