When do I have to commit to my decision?
- Please let us know by this Friday, March 19th.
Can I change my mind after that?
- You have to stick with your choice for a month and can change onMay 3rd. There will be another date after that to switch: May 24th.Please make sure that you make the best decision that you can foryour child. Frequent transitions can be challenging for kids.
What will classrooms look like?
- With the current number of students set to return, we are able toset up all classrooms with desks or tables in rows with 6 feet ofsocial distancing. This will allow us to eat in the classrooms safelyas well. If more children want to come back into the building afterMay 3rd, we may have to make other plans for eating meals, reduce social distancing to 3 feet during instruction (not eating), ormove classes to bigger spaces. If this happens, we will let youknow prior to the change.
How will the teacher teach both remote and in-person students?
- The district has purchased HD cameras with tripods that connectto use with Zoom and Meets. It will be a different experience thanfull remote and full in-person because the teacher (includingspecials teachers) will be communicating with both groups ofchildren at the same time. The district has done test classes withthe equipment and will be training the teachers over the next week and half.
What if my child has to quarantine during this time?
- Your child will be able to log on as a remote learner if they have been asked to quarantine by the Health Department or a contact tracer.
Will my child have the same teacher?
- Yes, everyone will stay with the teacher s/he had in March.
What about transportation?
- The district changed its transportation policy in the fall for this year. Only children in Grades 1-6 who live farther than a two mile radius away from the school qualify for busing at this time. Students in preschool and kindergarten are not eligible for transportation at this time.
What do I need to know about masks for my child?
- Your child must wear a CLEAN mask into the school every day. Please make sure that they have masks on when they get out ofthe car or are on the sidewalk next to the school. We have maskbreaks throughout the day, following our safety rules. If your child only likes to wear masks from home, please pack an extra mask incase they need it. Please make sure the masks do not have vents.
What is pool testing and how does it work?
- Once each week we conduct COVID testing here at the Morey. ONLY STUDENTS WHOSE PARENTS HAVE FILLED OUT THE CONSENT FORM ONLINE OR ON PAPER ARE TESTED. Thisprogram is not mandatory and is offered as an option for you.
This is the link to the online consent form if you are interested:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSefijXJ4O0i5UEul4fEThAmfHHcbs6SkV4FpTpSMgIDPgBZOw/viewform
It is a quick and painless process. Students blow their noses, sanitize their hands, and are given a swab that looks like a one-sided q-tip. The students swirl the swab in the lower part of eachnostril three times and place the swab in the testing tube. The swabs are grouped together in pools of 5-10. When the tube istested later that day, if the results are negative, we know that all 5-10 people in that pool are negative. If the tube is positive, we doindividual testing on each person to figure out which person is positive. Then the health department does the contact tracing to keep everyone safe.
Safety measures and PPE available
***Hand sanitizer at every entrance and in every classroom
***Alcohol wipes for adults to sanitize surfaces throughout the day
***Child size and adult size surgical masks available
***Gowns, gloves, and face shields for close contact whennecessary
***Marked hallways and spaces with 6 foot marks for socialdistancing
