What's Up In Our Classroom
I hope that you have all survived the spring storms that we have been so fortunate to receive. Students have been working hard and are ready for the snow to be gone! We just started taking our MCA reading tests today. We will continue to trudge through them tomorrow. Attached you will find a calendar of our upcoming events for the year. In math students have been learning how to organize data as well as make graphs to represent their data. We have also started to explore mean, median, mode, and range. If students ask you their age it is for school purposes as we are trying to find the average age of your family. Students will be using an app called "Explain Everything" to create their own lesson on the I-pads in math next week. Students read Paul Bunyan this week and were able to make lots of connections with the story from living in Minnesota. Students also started writing fractured fairytales based on a few of the books our visiting author had written. Students have been studying rocks and minerals in science. We just started a unit that goes along with Earth Day. Students will be creating a newscast or commercial to help promote Earth Day. Students keep chipping away at their state projects in Social Studies. They just finished their research paper and are gearing up to start work on their boards. As the year starts to wind down, our class tends to get a bit busier with trips, concerts, ect. I will do my best to keep you up to date on the entire end of the year action! Thanks for taking time to read a little bit about what your kid has been learning!
