Bachelor of Science in Nursing Courses
In the course guide to the right, it includes two composition courses that I have already taken, so I do not need to take those during my first year of college. Also, I am supposed to take Government in the second year, but I've already taken that as well.
Career Description
Nurses promote health, prevent diseases, and help patients cope with illness. They observe, asses and record symptoms, reactions, and progress, which provides the basis for care planning and intervention. They are health educators and advocates for patients, families, and communities. Nurses provide care ranging from changing diapers (children AND adults) to treating serious injuries and illnesses with life-saving medications and careful treatment.
Why Nursing?
I want to become a nurse because I care about people and enjoy helping those in need. I haven't decided if I want to nurse in a private clinic or a hospital. Since I love children so much, I want to nurse in the area of maternal and child health. I hope to earn my degree in Nursing first and then I might decide to get my masters so I can become a Nurse Practitioner later on. In addition to nursing, I want to become a certified professional Midwife. Some women like delivering in the comfort of their own home, hiring a midwife to deliver instead of a doctor. I have watched a live birth before, and while I know it can sometimes have complications, I think it is something I would really enjoy being a part of.

Working Conditions
Nurses work mostly in healthcare facilities, but home health and public health nurses travel to patients' homes, schools, etc. A lot of time is spent standing and walking around. Nurses need to be able to cope with stress since there is a lot that comes with handling patients with medical emergencies and tragedies.
