Padilla Elementary School
Providing every student with the keys to open the doors of their future.
A Note from Principal Purfurst
We are down to the last two weeks of school before winter break! Thank you to the families who have kept your child home while they are feeling sick. I know that it can be hard to manage keeping a sick child at home while balancing everything else that life requires of us, but we know that doing so is the best way for us to avoid having to enter mandatory quarantines. Thank you!
An Update from Dean Hawkins
Drills This Week!
This Thursday we will have our December Evacuation Drill. It is tentatively set for Thursday at 9:30. Thank you for ensuring your student wears a coat/jacket to school as our weather has turned. The evacuation drill this week will be chilly and students will have to sit on the turf field for a few minutes as we account for everyone.
We will also have a Shelter Hazmat Drill this week. This drill is set for Wednesday and will not impact our classroom routine at all. During this drill we will shut down the HVAC system for a few minutes, check all exterior doors for leaks and then turn the system back on. This drill is used if there were a hazmat emergency outside of our building. The drill should last for about five minutes.
New Parking Lot Sidewalk!
We have a new sidewalk along the drop off lane in our parking lot (east side of lot)!! This sidewalk will help students that are walking to school from the south as well as those students that ride their bikes to school. This sidewalk also allows students to be dropped off earlier in the drop off lane before school. Students do not have to wait until they are by the crosswalks (where Mr. Purfurst or Mr. Dinkel are stationed) in order to be dropped off. By dropping your student off earlier in the line, the drop off times in the morning will improve and the process will run a bit smoother! Thank you for your help with this!
