Fire Safety
This week we reviewed the letter F while focusing on fire safety. On Monday, fire chief Olson stopped by our room. He taught us how to stop, drop & roll and what to do in case of a fire at home. Next we focused on sorting hot and cold items. We learned some things can be "sometimes hot", like an iron, stove and water.
Field Trip
Tuesday was our field trip to The Pumpkin Patch in Big Stone. It was a blast! The kids learned about growing pumpkins from the owner, Emily. They used their sense of touch to explore the different types of pumpkins and ghords; there was quite a variety on display! There was also a jumping sock, straw bale pile with tunnels underneath, a spiderweb to crawl on and corn boxes to play in. All of us, plus Mr. Chick, successfully completed the corn maze. I was very proud of their behavior on the field trip and look forward to more learning field trips this year.
In the upcoming weeks we will be incorporating pumpkins into our learning objectives. If you have extra pumpkins you would like to give to our classroom that would be great!
