Drills

Beginning with end in mind - is having a plan. Wednesday morning during arrival the fire alarm went off. Our students and staff cleared the building within seconds. Because it was not a planned drill, we had to wait for the Fire Department to give the "all clear" before re-entering the building. We regularly practice all drills, so we know what to do when it is not a scheduled drill.

Hanawalt Families,


We have a couple free opportunities that I wanted to share with you. The first one is on November 1st and 2nd at Oakridge Community Center. They are offering free vision screening for anyone that needs it. It runs from 9:00 AM -5:00 PM both days. An appointment is required and can be scheduled at 515-244-7702. The second opportunity is free dental care for all ages on November 4-5 at the Varied Industry building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. It runs from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM. No appointment is needed. I have attached flyers for both events. Please call me if you have any questions.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences have been scheduled. Your child should have brought home a note with your conference time and date. Conferences are November 1st and 2nd. Each fifteen minute conference will include a time for us to discuss your studentʼs strengths and challenges, highlight growth that has occurred over the course of the quarter, and make goals for the remainder of the year.

November 15: Hanawalt Free Skate

Join us at Skateland on Tuesday, November 15 for a Hanawalt Free Skate Night! Free admission for everyone and free skate rental for the first 50 who arrive ($4.75/person after that).
