Deerfield Elementary
May/June 2019
Greetings from the Office!
Spring has arrived! To avoid any confusion, we are sharing the following guidelines with all parents regarding appropriate dress for school. School is the work environment for children. Especially in warm weather, children may want to dress for the beach, the park, and generally for play. However, this is not appropriate for school. You can refer to the parent/student handbook page 16, if you have further questions.
-Appropriate shoes should be worn for all activities-flip flops are strongly discouraged
-Dresses/skirts/shorts must be within thumb length when hands are held to the side.
Summer school registration will take place on Monday, May 13 at 4:00pm. The course booklet was sent home in Tuesday Newsday and is located on the district website. Registration will be completed online using your Skyward login. If you have any questions, please contact the DES office or if you forgot your login or password, please click on Forgot logon/password at the bottom of the logon screen.
It's hard to believe that school is almost over. These last few weeks can be hectic for families and students. We try to keep the schedule and our routines as regular as we can. Students respond better to knowing the expectations every day. There are many different events happening, so check the dates below or the district website.
Thank you for all of your hard work in helping us with your child. We have enjoyed watching them grow, so please continue to work on reading and math over the summer months!
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at 764-5442 ext.5201 or kamrathm@deerfield.k12.wi.us.
Thanks,
Melinda Kamrath
DES Principal

6th Grade News
Sixth grade has had an exciting year with many terrific events and several more to wrap up the year. We went to the Overture Center four times this year. Each homeroom will be visiting the middle school to prepare our students for next year. We end the year with our annual graduation trip to Mt. Olympus Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells and Sixth Grade Graduation.
In Literature, students will be creating movies based on their final books of the school year. Students are studying genetics and heredity in science. In Social Studies, we are learning about Ancient Greek civilizations. The last chapters of the year in math focus on ratios, statistics, and probability. Our writing focus right now is persuasive writing.

2018-19 PTO NEWS
WOW! Thank you Deerfield! We had such a large turnout for the Culver's Scoopie Night! Deerfield helped Culver's achieve such high sales that they upped our donation amount from 10% to 15%! We were able to raise $870 to go towards new sun shades for the playground.
We hope everyone had fun at the Glow Family Dance! We plan on doing this again next year and have a few ideas to make it even better!
The High Five Event is just around the corner. We will need some volunteers to make this event great for the kids. A sign-up sheet will be posted soon.
We hope you all have a great rest of the school year and summer!
