The Nile River

The Nile River is the longest river in the world. The Nile river flowed through rocky, hilly land south of Egypt.2/3 of fertile farmland as located in the Nile delta. The Nile provided both water and fertile soil. It also has cataracts or rapids to keep invaders from invading from the river.

The Social Hierarchy

It goes 1. Pharaohs or a ruler in ancient Egypt 2. High priests and officials or a person having official duties 3. scribes or people who learned to read and write 4.craftsmen or a person who is skilled in a particular craft 5. farmers and laborers or a person doing unskilled manual work for wages 6. servants and slaves or a person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey them. If we did not have a hierarchy then we would have no leaders and that would lead to less land being conquered.

The Rosetta Stone

The Rosetta stone holds information of the Egyptians and their language. It helps archaeologists have a better understanding of them. It holds the key to the Egyptian hieroglyphics. During the 4th century the hieroglyphics died out so it would be hard to read them. It was used in Egypt for religious writing.

There were many great pharaohs but here are the ones I thought were the coolest.

1.Thutmose because he made lots of temples and monuments

2. Ahmose the great because he rose his power and that lead to the 18 dynasty and the new kingdom period, and conquered all of Egypt

3. Alexander the great because he built an empire that united most of Europe, Asia and Egypt

4.Ramses II because he was a good leader and he built long lasting temples

Egyptian Religion

The Egyptian religion was very interesting the did some very cool. Here are some of the things that they did. They practiced polytheism or the worship of many gods. Each village worshiped their own god. By the end of the Old Kingdom period Egypt had a population of about 2 million people. Egyptian families worshiped household gods in their home. When the people were mummified they were buried with gold, jewelry, weapons and other artifacts from when they lived.
