74th Edition: May 11, 2018

Next week will be a flurry of activity as we complete our FINAL WEEK OF CLASSES! We hope you all can make it out to the school tonight at 7pm to see the annual Variety Show ($5 tickets at the box office.) As you wait for those doors to open, at intermission, and after the show - we hope you check out all the amazing artwork on display representing all the talented students who submitted their work for the annual Art Show! Our Art Show will also showcase tomorrow (Saturday 1-3pm) and continue Monday and Tuesday evening!

Then - let's keep the support for our students going all week long! We begin the week off with our very first Incubator IDEA Pitch Night on Monday at 5:30 pm in the Auditorium. We are beyond proud of all the work and dedication Mr. Sarther and his several student-teams put into their products - so come out to see what the next big business enterprises will be!

Mr. Rome will be taking his final bows as our very own Leader of the Band at his Choral Concert (Tuesday evening at 7pm) and Band Concert (Wednesday evening at 7pm.) We encourage everyone to pack the place to send Mr. Rome all our love and appreciation for these performances. Our students have been working to make sure that every note they practice is perfect in his honor. Having previewed the band concert performances, we can assure you that there won't be a dry eye in the house as the music selections are so deeply meaningful to Mr. Rome and all who know him.

Finally, we honor our Seniors on Friday at our Honors Day assembly. Not only will it be the first glimpse of this class in their graduation caps and gowns, it is such a special moment to pause and reflect on all that they have accomplished in their four years at Marian Central.

Finally - Keep May 19th from 2-5 pm open and please join us as we have a special Open House to celebrate Mr. Rome's retirement. Due to his far-reaching influence on families and alumni for the past 33 years - we are honored to have this special open house to accommodate the several generations of students who are heading to Marian Central to wish him well. We hope you are able to stop by and celebrate with us!

In addition, to recognize and celebrate all of our retirees (Mr. Rome, Mr. Behymer, and Mrs. Reed) please join us on Monday, May 21st from 5-7pm in the cafeteria for an evening Open House to help wish these amazing educators well as they retire! We have been extremely blessed that these three outstanding educators have shared their educational vocations with our students!

We hope this Mothers' Day weekend is everything you need it to be: a time to bring family together to laugh, hug, celebrate, and just connect with those you love.

Senior Exam Exemption Forms - the "Wrap Up"

This past Tuesday, most seniors who submitted their exemption application received a letter stating what classes in which they earned their exemptions. In order to earn an exemption for each class, the student must have an average of 91% (no "rounding") between 3rd and 4th quarter. We felt this was the best motivation for students who may have struggled 3rd quarter to really apply themselves 4th quarter to still earn that exemption.

This weekend will be all about reviewing the appeals that were due today, May 11th. Any student who submitted an appeal will receive their final answers on Tuesday, May 15th. (We need a day to print out responses and then deliver through 1st hour classes as we did this week!)

Also being considered are the applications that were held for further review for non-grade issues: attendance, discipline, or financial concerns. Those students, too, will receive a final response on May 15th, if not sooner.

Please know that appeal decisions are final. The Administrative team has been very thorough with accounting for all college/medical notes, as well as watching the grades carefully. We understand the students have been working very hard to earn these exemptions - but we also must do our best to honor the guidelines presented for this program.

Calling for Donations of BAKED ITEMS for Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation!

The Parents' Association is looking for donations of baked goods for the Baccalaureate Mass and graduation ceremony! Please drop them off at school the morning of the Baccalaureate Mass (May 24th).

If interested in contributing baked goods, please contact Mrs. Lori Lee (cell/email below) so we can coordinate what items we will be able to offer (and know what goodies we still need to purchase to make it a wonderful celebration for our Senior families!)

Thank you for your support this year!

Lori Lee

There's STILL TIME to Purchase the 2017-2018 Yearbook!

There is still time to purchase the 2017-2018 yearbook!!! If you have not yet purchased your copy, don't miss out on this opportunity to relive some of your favorite memories of the year! Even if a book has been purchased for another sibling, we see the yearbook as an opportunity to preserve memories for every student. A yearbook becomes priceless as time passes and cherished moments fade as the years go by. In twenty years, we will need the yearbook to relive, remember and respect the moments that were so defining to us in high school.

BUT WAIT—THERE’S MORE! If you order a yearbook, you will receive a FREE autograph insert THIS May to pass around and have friends sign! Don’t miss out on this great opportunity!

THE LAST DAY TO PLACE ORDERS FOR THE YEARBOOK IS MAY 18TH, 2018!!! If you believe you have already purchased a yearbook, please verify with Miss Gallagher for confirmation at"
