It's Kindness Month at Eagles!
Did you know that kindness is free to give and has the power to change the world?
Eagles Elementary will celebrate kindness with themed dress up days February 8-12, a "Kindness Begins With Me" coloring contest, and Random Acts of Kindness in their classrooms. More information to come, stay tuned!
It is National School Counseling Week!
The Eagles School Counseling Program is for ALL students. In the Fargo Public Schools, school counselors follow the American School Counseling Association National Standards. This means that over 80% of a school counselor's time is spent directly with students. At Eagles, I spend the majority of my time providing classroom lessons, brief individual counseling, group counseling, peer problem solving, and helping families. These are services that are available to every student at Eagles, so please let me know if there is ever anything I can do to help your child!
Meet Ms. Alme! School Counseling Intern
Hello!
My name is Kaitlyn Alme, and I am excited to be completing my internship at Eagles Elementary this spring! Originally from Fargo, ND, I am a current graduate student at North Dakota State University pursuing my master's degree in Counselor Education (specifically in School and Clinical Mental Health Counseling). Before becoming a Bison, I graduated from Concordia College in 2018 with a major in English literature and minor in psychology. When I'm not working with students or learning, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, and practicing yoga. I'm looking forward to getting to know the students at Eagles Elementary!
Classroom Lessons
During the month of February, I will continue to teach lessons related to strong feelings and the calm down steps: Stop, Name your Feeling, Calm Down. We talk a lot about ways to calm our minds after we "flip our lid." Examples would be: breathing, counting, and using self talk. Using the same language at home would be so helpful!
