Returning After Spring Break

This week you were sent information about what will stay the same and what will be changing as we enter the last part of our school year after Spring break (4/6). If you were not able to attend the parent forum at Park View last night, here is the presentation including all the new information. If you have any questions please reach out to me for clarification. I am excited that all grade levels will be attending school four days per week after Spring break.

For our parents of 3rd through 5th graders, we will be using our Wednesdays for taking the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). We will use six of the remaining eight Wednesdays, after Spring break, to complete the three ELA sections and three Math sections. I will be sending specific information to only those families of students taking these assessments early next week. It is up to each family to determine if your child(ren) will participate in these assessments on Wednesdays and transportation is not provided by the school district. Both in-person and remote only students will be invited to participate in these assessments at Park View School.

If your child(ren) is/are returning to Park View after Spring break for the first time this year, you will receive a special communication from me next week reviewing all the procedures you will need to know such as arrival, dismissal, etc. Parents of new in-person students must fill out a self-certification form for each child coming back to Park View before entering the building. Those forms are due by next Monday, March 22nd. New returning families have received several emails explaining how to self-certify. Once we receive your completed form, your child(ren) will receive a backpack tag that signifies they are self-certified.

Attendance After Spring Break

In April all students will begin attending school four days per week either in-person only or remote only and because of that, attendance will fall back to the traditional procedures. If an in-person student does not come to school, they will be marked absent. They will not participate in remote learning. They will rest and get well and come back to school when healthy. If a child goes on vacation they will not participate in remote learning. They will be marked absent and upon return, they can make up any work that the teacher feels is most important to their learning. We expect all our in-person only students to be present at school and there is no option to switch to remote for any reason except to return to the remote only learning model for the remainder of the school year. Remote only students will be the only students permitted to use the google meets to participate in class and activities in school.

Be sure when your child is going to be absent to call the attendance line at (630) 827-4041. This ie extremely important for student safety. We need to know our panthers are at home under adult supervision.
