Maverick Minutes
Week of 1/25-1/29
Hello from the Other Side...At Least I Can Say that I've Tried!
Secondly, I have been asked to reiterate my move upstairs. I simply moved to help out with the transition and noise to and from classes with the upper grades. I have never been one to ask people to do something that I am not willing to help (with the exception of vomit cleanup...I will never help with that)! I know you get busy with kids after class and hope I can be of some assistance in their transition! Please fill free to use my office if you need to make a private call or need a place of quiet...I doubt I will be in there any more than I was the bottom office! We are in this together and I believe visibility is a key to lowering mischievous opportunity! So with that said...Hello from the Other Side!!!
Snow Information
In the event of inclement weather, I will always want you to be safe first. I have to wait and see what options the district gives, but as stated earlier, I will always make sure we try to do what is right by you.
We will:
- Open the building the weekend following the return if makeup time is offered
- Allow you to use code 61 to employees that are able and when the district permits
- Try to keep our day as normal in the event of a delay

Art Without Borders
Such a great title for our upcoming atrium bulletin board display. Thank you One World Classroom organization for connecting students across the globe via art. OWC's mission is to "build bridges of learning and understanding between local and global classrooms through the arts and technology". One way to accomplish this...allow young people to represent their lives through image (see images) and in exchange receive from students living in other countries images incorporating the same goal. Back in December, Ms. Kiral fired up the students with the request to do just that. The results were amazing. Such a variety of artistic styles. Off in the post 26 masterpieces dispersed. Where each piece would end up was unknown.
Our first piece has been spotted in Romania. Eighth grader, Gabby Yohannes's art work found a home on the bulletin board of Middle School Nicolae Lorga in Ploiesti, Romania. Her piece is sure to give rise to many discussions on inferred American life. Wonder where the next masterpiece will appear. I'll keep you posted.
After our bulletin board is completed, have your students view it. Challenge them to infer from a picture life as lived in other countries around the world.
Congratulations Hollis Weisel!
