Happy New Year!
The joy and hope of a new year is still upon us, even in the bleak and often overcast January weather. Sometimes it is hard to look forward and set goals when life circumstances do not change, however Our God is a God of both second chances and new beginnings. I am taking 2016 to be a year I pray the rosary more. I made the goal to pray the rosary everyday, but when that wasn't possible I "remade" my goal to say it twice a week. It is awesome to see how attainable and specific goals have the best outcomes.
I am also excited to announce that I will be traveling to our Diocese Mission in Guatemala this month. Youth group will still resume as usual on Wednesday's at 6:30 p.m. during the two weeks I am absent. I am traveling with a small parish group from Missoula to visit the people at the Diocese run health clinic and do outreach ministry in the indigenous populated towns in the mountains near Santo Tomas, Guatemala. I am already excited to return and share our experiences with the youth at St. Richard's. It is going to be a very challenging but awe-some trip. Please pray for our group and the people who we will encounter while on our journey. If you need to get in touch with any of the youth group leaders while I am absent please call Colleen at the office and she will direct you to the leader for that particular week.
With a prayer of newness and inspiration,
Raven

Coming Up:
Middle Schoolers will be focusing on stories of the Old Testament in the next 7 weeks at Youth Group. Feel free to ask them about Adam and Eve, Moses, Ruth or Esther ... they'd love to tell you :)
High School is going to be breaking open the 7 sacraments of the Church and talking about the most perfect sacrament of them all: Jesus! I am super excited to get them talking about the sacraments - they are that which sustains our faith and our Church!

Prayer for the Month
God, thank you for a new year. May everyone in our family be willing to begin anew with a clean slate. We know that you are always ready to forgive us. Help us to be willing to forgive ourselves and to forgive one another.
As we begin a new year, remind us of our truest values and our deepest desires. Help us to live in the goodness that comes from doing what you want us to do. Help us to put aside anxiety about the future and the past, so that we might live in peace with you now, one day at a time.
