Greetings CES Families & Friends,
We hope you have an opportunity to spend a little more time with your child over our upcoming break. Plumas schools will be out for the President's week break from Feb 17-21. We will be excited to welcome back all students on February 25. If you're interested in reviewing our 2020-2021 calendar, please see "Plumas 20-21 calendar" below.
Tech Savvy. Check out this link from Josh at Smart Social entitled Popular Teen Apps for Teens and Parents. Within this resource, Josh identifies apps as green (safer) to orange (dangerous) to help us navigate through the vast online resources are students may experience. Hopefully this helps keep our students safe during their screen time.
Our Plumas Public Health Agency has a website with lots of useful information. We are provided updates regarding public health. Please take a moment to review their website link below and learn more about some health alerts for our area. Thanks!
Our February character focus is Positive Attitude. We all know the importance and value of our attitude and how we approach school and other activities. We appreciate our parents emphasizing the importance of being positive, working hard and being a good citizen at school. Check out the article link below entitled "10 Activities to Encourage a Positive Attitude in your Kids."
February is also Black History Month. Our wonderful teachers will be highlighting some African American heroes this month, and we've also provided some links below to share with your children at home. Both National Geographic for Kids and Scholastic provide some helpful resources for families. Please see below.
CES PTA Read-a-thon. Our wonderful PTA is sponsoring a read-a-thon to raise money for the many events they do for our CES students. A link is below with all of the information. In summary, Feb 7-28 students collect pledges, Feb 29-March 7 students read, March 8-12 students collect from their sponsors, then on March 13 they turn in the pledge sheet and the money. We hope all of our students are able to participate. Thank you!
Reading each night? 20 minutes/night. Send me your pictures and your favorite books and we'll put them in an upcoming newsletter! Check out the article below around developing a love of reading for our students. Worth the peruse!
In closing, we appreciate your ongoing support and teaming with us to make 2019-2020 an exceptional elementary experience for our students. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!
