Friendly Reminders from Room 129!!
Open House is Tomorrow and School Picture Day is Monday!
From the Desk of Mrs. Eske
Dear Fourth Grade Families,
I just wanted to sent out a friendly reminder that Open House is tomorrow evening from 4:30-6:00. We would love to see you, as the students have been working so hard and can't wait to showcase their hard work!! This is also a come and go event, for those that might have other scheduling commitments. So feel free to stop in for a short visit or stay as long as time allows!! This will also be your first opportunity to sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences!! Parent Teacher Conferences begin on Monday, October 23rd.
Some items on display for Open House include:
- Students used Google Docs to create Color Poems Using the 5 Senses. We also had fun inserting" colorful" images into our documents, before the final pieces were published and printed! :) In addition to our Color Poems, students have been writing pieces that include: fantasy elements, experiences from their own life, and taking a fairytale and changing it in a humorous or unexpected way to make it a fractured fairytale!! For example: The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig.
- During our Science PBL Unit, we made "buffers or safety devices" for our Eggbert Project. Student video's of this project were poste in our last class newsletter. But, I will also be sharing with you photographs of all of the students that participated in the Eggbert Project!!!
- Students had an opportunity to listen to the book, If I Hopped Like a Frog and have been writing If I...stories. I am very impressed with the topics that students have chosen to write their If I...stories on!! (If I Was/Were...a Superhero, Lion, Duck, Army-Man, Cheetah, Spy, Unicorn, Rich, Dragon, Monkey...and the list goes on!
Highlight of the Week! Check out these Superstar Readers!!!
One of the Fractured Fairytales that we read together was, The Three Javelina's! This is the Spanish version of the Three Little Pigs. These gentleman did a fantastic job reading this book aloud to the class!!
