December BUZZ
The Prince Charles School
Dear Families at Home,
November was an eventful month at The Prince Charles School! We had a lot of great opportunities for our students. Mme Little's Class did a beautiful job organizing and running our Remembrance Day assembly. The assembly was completely run by students. We are so lucky to have such amazing student leadership at TPCS. Special thanks to all of the staff for all of their hard work behind the scenes to support student leadership.
Stingers recognized Bullying Awareness month with a focus on BEElonging and a number of activities and events. Students did a number of activities in their classrooms and as a school to discuss the impact of unkind words. We are all working hard to make all members of our Stinger Community feel that they have a positive sense of belonging to our school. We are proud that as Stingers- we are making the world a better place, one kind word at a time!
The classrooms continue to be a hub of activities with lots of critical literacy and small guided practice groups for students in both literacy and mathematics. Our key focus over this term has been to set learning goals in reading and number sense for small groups of students and then work with them to improve their decoding, fluency, comprehension and their understanding of numbers. Guided practice groups have allowed students to work with teachers in a more focused format on skills that will help them to progress. We look forward to continuing this focus in 2018.
We continue to embed technology in our communication plan. Please consider signing up for Twitter (www.twitter.com) and following @TPCS_LDSB, as well as using REMIND to get updates on upcoming events. They are excellent and very easy ways to stay informed and up to date on what is happening at the school.
Please do not hesitate to stop in at the office if you have any questions or concerns.
Happy Holidays!

Colour House Update
In November, the students in Grades 1 to 8 have been learning to play European Handball. On Friday, students come to Dance Club to listen to popular tunes and share their newest dance moves with friends. We have also added intramural soccer for our Senior Kindergarten students on Tuesday and Wednesdays. The Colour House Leaders have been doing an excellent job running these activities with the support of a variety of teachers.
Please check the calendar for all of the activities and spirit days coming up this month!

Poppies and Posters
Many students in the Junior/Intermediate division participated in the Royal Canadian Legion Poster contest. Congrats to Lily from Mme Little's class whose poster was selected by the Legion in our area to move on to the Provincial competition.
