The Scientific Revolution
By: Hailey K. 1st
What was the change?
The change was the way the church taught science about the earth. It was the change from the Geocentric model to the Heliocentric model. The difference between them is where the earth is located and how things move around in the universe.
How did the change impact society at this time?
The change impacted society because the church didn't want to be wrong and didn't want to be corrected. they even put Galileo Galiei on house arrest until he died.
How is that change evidenced in today's modern society?
The change is evidenced in today modern society because we now we learn the Heliocentric model. We also know that planets orbit the sun and we can figure out the proportional distance from the sun. We now have the information of the Law of Universal Gravitation.
Who were the people associated with the change?
The people associated with the change were Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo, and Isaac Newton.
Nicolaus Copernicus
He was a polished astronomer and mathematician. He claimed the geocentric model didn't explain the moments of the sun, moon, and plants. After studying this problem for 30 years, he proposed a new model of the universe called the Heliocentric model.
Johannes Kepler
Kepler was a graduate from The University of Linz. His fields were astronomy, astrology, mathematics, and natural philosophy. He proved through his observations that the heliocentric model of the universe was in fact true. He also proposed three laws of planetary motion
* Planets move in elliptical orbits around the sun.
* Planets move more rapidly as their orbits approach the sun.
* The time it takes a planet to orbit the sun is proportional to its distance from the sun.
Galileo Galiei
He was a Italian math professor who set out to prove many of Aristotle's theories about nature wrong.
Some of the things he found
* found objects accelerate at a predictable and fixed rate.
*Proved that heavy objects fall at the same rate as lighter ones.
*Galileo made improvements to the telescope and was one of the first to improve to enough to use it to observe the sky.
Isaac Newton
He was a English scientist and mathematician. He is popularly know for the key figure in scientific revolution.
