Woods Weekly
Week of February 29th-March 4th
Classroom Happenings
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Scholastic Book Orders
I will be placing the book order today (Friday, February 26th) after school. They should arrive within a week or two.
ISTEP
ISTEP Part 1 is here. 4th graders will be testing Tuesday (March 1st), Wednesday (March 2nd), Friday (March 5th), and Monday (March 7th). It is very important that your child is present each day, has gotten a good night's rest, and has eaten a healthy breakfast. The kids have been working so hard all year long. I know they will ROCK this test!
Black History Month Movie
We will be watching the Disney made-for-TV movie Selma, Lord Selma on Thursday, March 3rd in honor of Black History Month. This movie focuses on the Civil Rights Movement. A permission slip was sent home today with additional details. Permission slips are due by Wednesday, March 2nd.
Reminders
Student Council: Cookies and Coffee for Soldiers
What is more relaxing than a nice cup of coffee and a sweet treat of cookies?
Our Student Council is sponsoring a coffee and cookie drive for our troops through Friday, March 18th.
How can you help?
Please donate commercially packaged cookies and 1-pound bags of ground coffee. They can be placed on the table across from the Lost and Found. The donations will be packaged and sent to soldiers all around the world by The Military Support Group in Indianapolis in late March. Thanks for brightening a soldier's day!
Accelerated Reader:
Just like last grading period, Accelerated Reader will count as two reading grades. One grade will be for reading comprehension accuracy--the goal is for students to earn at least 85% accuracy. The other grade will be based on whether your child achieves his/her reading goal. All students have gotten their new goal for the grading period. It can be found in the front cover of their assignment notebook. Please take a look.
