A Message from the Principal
Greetings St. Anthony Catholic High School Community!
"Teach me your ways, O' Lord" Psalm 25:4-5
Happy New Year! Its hard to believe that January 2018 is almost over. It has been a busy month getting back in gear with the weather, the MLK holiday and the challenges that arise. But thankfully we make it through and begin a new day each day as God provides new promises for each of us and our school every day.
There has been a lot of exciting events happening this past month with soccer, basketball, swimming, baseball, softball, cheer, dance and tennis all happening now. Each of the sports are pulling together and winning some games and building strong teams for the future. God has blessed many of our students with great athletic ability!
We are collaborating more with UIW and this past week, we had a Senior Day over there. The seniors had an opportunity to spend the day at UIW and listen to various presentations. Then on Wednesday evening, we had a SACHS Night Out at the UIW Girl's Basketball game and had a sold out crowd with many of our teams attending to cheer on the Lady Cardinals. It was a fun night to socialize with our Cardinals and have our Yellow Jackets together. See pictures below.
We are in the final days of fundraising for our dynamic Catholic parent and most humble servant of God, Mrs. Julissa Carielo. We are still selling her THINK GOD bracelets for $5 to receive a spirit dress day. Mrs. Carielo is the one that has put up the THINK GOD billboards all over San Antonio to remind us all who will never forsake us and will ALWAYS help us :) We thank Mrs. Carielo for her tireless efforts in helping raise money for our school. You can still donate until January 30. See the flyer below for the website information.
We are busy preparing for our upcoming Accreditation Visit which will happen February 11-14. This is part of a requirement from the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department (TCCB-ED). Every 7 years, every Catholic school in the state of Texas receives a visit to ensure we are following the standards set forth. The TCCB-ED team will be talking to parents during morning/afternoon drop off and anywhere else they might see you which is part of their visit. They will be visiting with everyone associated with our school. Please keep us in your prayers during this time.
This week begins Catholic Schools Week 2018! This special week is celebrated all around the country to help encourage and inspire more parents to send their children to Catholic Schools. We will have an event each day this week with our biggest PARENT OPEN HOUSE on Thursday, February 1, 2018. Please encourage any family you know that has interest in the Yellow Jackets to visit us during this time. We are scheduling family tours all week long. See the calendar of events for further information on the special events this week.
Take special note of the additional days we now have school due to the inclement weather days and the extra Thanksgiving holiday. All the make up days are noted below.
Progress reports are coming up next week. Please encourage your child to attend tutoring if they have questions on homework or need additional assistance. There are also additional UIW Math Tutors that we encourage all students to utilize. See your math teachers for more information. We want to keep grades in the A-B averages as much as possible to increase scholarship opportunities and a solid transcript that can open many doors for success. The library and cafeteria will be open afterschool for students to complete homework until they are picked up.
Thank you for choosing St. Anthony Catholic High School!
Dear Heavenly Father- Teach us your ways and make us more like you. Fill us with wisdom as we build your school each day and nourish your children with knowledge of you. Help us to be your ambassadors on this earth and serve you in all that we do. Be with us during these upcoming weeks. Surround every child at St. Anthony Catholic High School with the protection from the Holy Spirit and help them all feel your love. We adore you Lord! In Jesus Name, Amen.
May your life be blessed!
Dr. Kristina Vidaurri
