ELEMENTARY PROGRAMS

AKA Archery (grades 3-4) - Each day you'll learn the safety, technique and fun of archery. Master your aim and accuracy in this sport that is gaining popularity. All equipment is provided.
Artastic Spring with Young Rembrandts (grades K-4) - This class is kicking off with playful fun lesson inspired by flowers and robots. Our students will learn how to think outside of the box as they create stylized drawings of an intricately patterned fish, a cartoon alligator and a detailed illustration featuring an aerial view from the perspective of a jet plane!
Claylicious with Kidcreate Studio (grades K-4) - Sculpt, slab, coil and carve...roll up your sleeves because this camp is all clay, all the time! We'll sculpt silly puppies, fuzzy hedgehogs, a chocolate layer cake that looks good enough to eat and more.
AKA Golf (grades 1-4) - This is a beginner to intermediate level golf class that focuses on teaching kids proper grips and techniques through lessons and plenty of hitting repetition. Small drivers and wedges will be provided. Golf safety and etiquette instruction included. Great way to get your kids enthused about year round golf!
Oh My Glitter with Kidcreate Studio (grades K-4) - We're upping our glam game so artists can make unicorns that shimmer, butterflies that sparkle and other dazzling works of art! We'll use clay, paint, real canvas boards and so much more. Each masterpiece will be covered in glitter!
Extreme STEM: Copters and Spy Planes (grades K-4) - Build a helicopter, egg beater, paddle boat and spy plane using LEGO bricks. Then use those projects to investigate basic engineering concepts.
Stem Builders Into Orbit (grades K-4) - Learn about space, space travel and satellites. Students will build a rover, railgun, planetary walker and more.
AKA Tennis (grades 1-4) - Students will learn the game of tennis through fun and interactive drills. They will be able to use equipment that is age appropriate so they can feel success in the skills they are learning. Activity takes place at Northpoint Elementary.
Grand Masters of Chess (grades K-4) - Learn, practice and play chess each class. Chess lessons and puzzles will be taught each week as well as guided games and in-class tournaments.
Stem Builders - Game Zone (grades K-4) - Create, build, code and play. Make your own games and have fun! Build the games you love to play including a spinning top, race car, beyblade and marble game.
WESTWOOD PROGRAMS
Intramurals: Volleyball (grades 5-8) - Join us after-school in the middle school gym for volleyball drills, skills and scrimmages! Session will be led by Westwood Middle School Volleyball Coaches.
Intramurals: Floor Hockey (grades 5-8) - Mr. Bianco, who is on the SLPHS Boys' Hockey coaching staff, will lead drills and games.
Intramurals: Flag Football (grades 5-8) - Participants will focus on fundamentals and sportsmanship with lots of games and scrimmages!
Intramurals: Ultimate Frisbee (grades 5-8) - Participants will focus on fundamentals and sportsmanship with lots of games and scrimmages!
Intramurals: Conditioning/Weight Room (grades 7-8) - Students will engage in fun conditioning and lifting workouts.
Pingpong Club (grades 5-8 ) - Join us in the cafeteria after-school for Ping Pong fun! This is a student-led club where students will work on their skills and play each other. Staff will supervise the space and provide all the needed equipment.
Scratch/Coding Club (grades 5-8) - Bring your school iPad and your ideas! This is a student-led club to work together on coding and Scratch projects.
Lego Club (grades 5-8) - LEGO Club with Mr. Clark. We have a collection of over 5,000 LEGOs to work on various free build models. This session will focus on building for a stop-motion movie.
Westwood Robotics with Stem Builders (grades 5-8) - Using the brand new SPIKE curriculum, kids will develop STEM skills and build their imagination. Students will build some of the most popular toys (including bumper cars, a ferris wheel and a car race) and code them with only the limits of their imagination.
FAMILY ACTIVITIES
Cupcake Decorating - Paige Goehner, winner of Food Network's Kids Baking Championship, wants you to join her as she decorates spring themed cupcakes! Designs will include spring flowers and baby animals. Each registration will include one dozen cupcakes for you to decorate in class as Paige walks you through different techniques and designs. The cupcakes are yours to take home and enjoy!
Mini Cake Fondant Decorating - Have fun learning how to color, roll and cut colorful fondant into a wide variety of shapes and sizes. You will apply a base coat of buttercream icing. Next, add decorative fondant pieces to your 5-inch, two-layer cake, to create a springtime edible work of art! All abilities welcome!
HIGH SCHOOL OPPORTUINITIES
Adult Programs
Try Scuba Diving - Have you ever wondered what it's like to breathe underwater? If you want to find out but aren't quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, Try Scuba Diving will let you see if you like it at a fraction of the cost.
Artisan Breads - Take the mystery out of homemade yeast breads and have the knowledge to shape and bake buns, bread bowls, crescent rolls and beautiful bread loaves that boost flavor. This is a demonstration and hands-on class.
Tai Chi - This non-martial, gentle exercise reduces stress, strengthens the body and restores internal and external balance. In this class, participants will learn a 40 posture Yang family form done in sequences
Free! Indoor Walking Club - Join us Saturday mornings this winter for a fun, warm and relaxing way to exercise. We have designed indoor routes at the Spring Lake Park High School to get your steps in. After you walk, stick around for coffee and snacks provided by the SLP Lions Club.
Badminton Clinic/Open Gym - Join other adults to play Badminton on Wednesdays and Saturdays at Spring Lake Park High School.
Pyrography (Wood Burning) - Learn how to use the pyrography tool and various tips to create one or more springtime works of art. Apply color to your wood burning with easy-to-use acrylic liquid pens that will add a nice final touch!
Basic Home Repair - Electrical - Learn the basics of home electrical repairs and save the money and hassle of calling an electrician. In this class, you will learn skills such as: proper electrical safety, wire stripping, circuit testing, rewiring lamps and extension cords and installing light fixtures/ceiling fans.
Basic Home Repair - Plumbing - In this hands-on course, you will learn how the basic plumbing system works and common problems and repairs that may be required. Topics covered include: replacing pop up drain assembly, repairing a leaky toilet and cutting and soldering cooper pipe fittings.
Digital Photography 101 - With our very own SLP Communication Team Expert!
Dust off your digital camera and sharpen your photography skills with a class that will go beyond the technical skills of how to use your camera. Anyone who wants to practice their craft or get more creative with their camera is welcome!
Spring Basket Weaving - Create your own spring basket through this introductory class. Perfect for your own table, egg hunts or a gift for someone special.
Bob Ross - Style Painting - Come learn the "Joy of Painting" with certified Bob Ross instructor, Jay Rupp. Artists of all experience levels will paint with Jay to create a beautiful mountain landscape scene. All materials will be provided.
Acrylic Pour Painting - You will be introduced to the magical world of fluid acrylics and pouring medium. Learn how to create the same beautiful abstract canvasses you see on Pinterest.
A Veteran's Story: K-9 Unit in Vietnam - Join local veteran and retired teacher, Vince Smith, as he recounts his experiences as a dog handler during the Vietnam War. Vince's engaging presentation will take you on a journey from basic training, to MP school, to Vietnam and back again.
History Talk: Working on the Railroad - Vince Smith will recount his time working on the world famous White Pass Railroad in the Yukon Territory of Alaska in the 1960s-70s. Experience a different side of this iconic and beautiful tourist destination.
