Proctor Elementary
School Newsletter, January 2020
Welcome Back and Happy New Year!
Our character trait for the month of January is Positive Attitude. Please discuss the
importance of having a positive attitude with your child. Sometimes a positive
attitude can make all the difference in how we approach and tackle a problem or
difficult situation. Talk with your child about how they can turn something negative
into a positive and to be careful about the negative statements they sometimes will
make about their abilities. We will recognize those students who demonstrate this trait at our next Flag/Award Assembly Friday, February 7th.

School Safety Refresher!
In an effort to keep all of our students safe, we implemented safety rules at the beginning of
this school year. Here is a refresher:
● Please keep all gates around campus closed. The main gate is closed, but
unlocked. That is the only way on campus during the school day.
● Please sign in at the office anytime you are on campus.
● If your child forgot something, please leave it in the office. This will minimize
classroom interruptions.
● Please remain off campus until 5 minutes before the bell rings at the end of the day.
● Students should not be on campus unsupervised until 7:50 am unless they
are eating breakfast, or with their parent. Students eating breakfast should not be on campus before 7:40am and they must stay in the cafeteria.
● Please pass this information on to any people picking up or dropping off your child,
including grandparents and caregivers.
● Anyone picking up your child from school must be listed on the Contacts page in
Aeries. Please make sure they bring ID with them to pick up, we will ask for it!
● If you are volunteering on campus, you must have a Megan’s Law form on file in the
office, you must sign-in, and wear a visitor/volunteer badge.
Bay Area Children's Theater - Buy your tickets now!
Join us in supporting the Castro Valley Unified School District's afters-school musical program! This winter Proctor students will be performing Disney's Aristocats Kids!
Based on the beloved Disney animated film, and featuring a jazzy, upbeat score, Disney’s The Aristocats KIDS is a non-stop thrill ride of feline fun, complete with unbelievable twists and turns. In the heart of Paris, a kind and eccentric millionairess wills her entire estate to Duchess, her high-society cat, and her three little kittens. Laughs and adventure ensue as the greedy, bumbling butler pulls off the ultimate catnap caper. Now it's up to the rough-and-tumble alley cat, Thomas O'Malley, and his band of swingin' jazz cats to save the day.
Mark your calendars, and come out and support Proctor Elementary Students!
Upcoming Performances:
Thursday, February 6th @ 7:00pm
Saturday, February 8th @ 11:00am
Where:
Performed at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts

Marquee Community Discussion Meeting!
The PTA will be hosting two facilitated events separate from the PTA meeting that are designed to allow everyone an opportunity to express their thoughts about the marquee. Our first meeting was productive and extremely positive. We are excited to host the second event which will will be held on Tuesday, January 21st from 6:30-8:00 PM. Child care will be sponsored by the PTA; however, we will not be providing food. The second event has not been scheduled yet, but we do anticipate that it will happen in January.
Our collective goal is that the association can vote on the purchase of a new marquee for our school through a process where everyone has a voice and that will build and strengthen our community regardless of what the final decision or outcome may be.
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, 1/21! @ 6:30 - 8:00 PM
Thank You,
Proctor PTA
