MY LIFE AS A BLUR
Hi my name is Finn Apple-bottom and I live with a eye disease called Acanthamoeba Keratitis it is a rare but serious eye infection. My story starts when I was sixteen years old.
One day I was taking off my contact lenses and I had very bad eye pain also I had very red eyes. I walked into the wash room to put my contact lenses into their cases and as soon as I stepped into the light I was in extraordinary pain, I started getting teary eyes and my vision was blurry. I decided to wait a few days before I told my parents hoping that the pain would subside. After a few days the pain did not go away it got worse my vision was getting way more blurry. I told my parents and we went to the eye doctor and he said I had pink eye because of the symptoms. I waited around a week nothing happened, I was starting to get worried my vision was getting very blurry and I was always scratching my eye because I thought there was something in it. We went back to the eye doctor for the second time and they thought I might have Acanthamoeba Keratitis. The doctors thought I had this because of a ring-like ucleration around my eye. They said that I would have gotten it from not taking care of my lenses such as swimming, showering with them in or getting them wet. They said that they would have to give me a corneal transplant right away or my vision would be gone completely I was very worried this procedure is very big. Sadly we could not get the transplant in time so today I am 28 years old and has not seen the world since I was sixteen. I like to say that having this disease helped me today I have a guide dog named Sophie and I head into Clegg Enterprises to work as the C.O.O. every day. I am happy living with my wife, my dog Sophie, and my two kids Riley and Spencer.
