Charleroi Teacher Finalist for Grant
It’s time to vote! Help our Middle School teacher Sara Hega win a $2,500 grant for her classroom. As a result of your thank you notes, educators from across the country have sent in their proposals to fund their educational visions.
Vote daily throughout October to help your favorite teachers win $2,500 for their proposals. Cast your vote below for as many proposals as you like, but remember that you can only vote for the same proposal once per day.
Thank you for supporting Ms. Hega and good luck.

This is Ms. Hega's application
As our world becomes more and more reliant on technology, our students need to have access to as many opportunities as possible to hone these skills. I would use the $2500 dollars to purchase approximately 8 HP Chromebooks and a Luxor charging cart. With the computers, my students would have the chance to do research, type essays, create presentations, and remediate ELA skills. Since I teach Honors English 8, English 8, and REACH (gifted 6-8), the resources would help children over the spectrum of learning abilities. With these computers, I would be able to reach hundreds of children throughout the years to come.
Senior Class Interview Day
Charleroi 12th grade students interview day is October 28th. If you know anyone that might be interested in being an interviewer, please let me know.
It is from 8:00 am-11:00 am on Friday, October 28 in the high school. Mrs. Toth, Senior Class Guidance Counselor, is especially looking for interviewers in the community that work in the medical field.

Consortium for Public Education - Champions of Learning
The Consortium is seeking nominations of Champions of Learning in our region for recognition next spring at the annual Champions of Learning Awards dinner.
We know you are familiar with this event as you either nominated someone in the past or have been nominated for this honor. In either case, we believe you are probably in a unique position to know someone who is a strong advocate for creating exceptional learning opportunities for students — an extraordinary classroom teacher or an outstanding school or district leader. Consider nominating that person!
But don’t stop there! Cast a wide net, because we’re also looking for other individuals, organizations and businesses that contribute time, talent or support to create or improve learning experiences for students across western Pennsylvania.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, November 11, 2016. They will celebrate winners in seven categories on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center when they host their annual Champions of Learning Awards dinner.
