Lubbock-Cooper Names New Head Coach
Scholarship Opportunities Available to Seniors
Encourage your LCISD senior to apply for the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Scholarship and/or Hannah Grace Venable Memorial Scholarship. The Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Scholarship is open to all Lubbock-Cooper seniors, and the Hannah Grace Venable Memorial Scholarship is open to Lubbock-Cooper seniors with an interest in pursuing a career in assisting individuals with special needs. The deadline to apply for each scholarship is Friday, February 22.
In addition to completing an application, seniors will need to upload a resume of accomplishments into the form, or email it to lcefapplications@gmail.com. Two letters of recommendation must also be emailed to lcefapplications@gmail.com by individuals advocating for the student. This is a great opportunity for hard-working Pirate students to get a head start on funding for college or trade/technical school! Students can fill out the applications online at the links below:

*Please note: Lubbock-Cooper Seniors are welcome to apply for both scholarships, so long as the criteria for each scholarship is met. Students applying for both scholarships need only submit one resume of accomplishments and two letters of recommendation to be applied to both scholarships.

Alex Sheen to Host Assemblies at the High School
Alex Sheen is the founder of Because I Said I Would, a social movement and nonprofit dedicated to the betterment of humanity through promises made and kept.
He is someone who truly honors commitment. Alex once walked over 240 miles across the entire state of Ohio in 10 days to fulfill a promise. Alex has impacted millions of people with the “because I said I would” message through the viral nature of social media.
Alex is a three-time TEDx closing speaker and his work has been featured on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer, CNN, The Los Angeles Times, The Today Show and many other programs.
There will be 2 high school assemblies on Wednesday, January 23. All freshmen and seniors will attend at 10:30. All sophomores and juniors will attend at 1:30. If you'd like to learn more about Alex Sheen and Because I Said I Would, check out the video below.
Medical Fundraiser for LCHS Student Peyton Walker
These bracelets are available in a few locations including the high school. They may be purchased in the high school library, or may also be picked up at the home of a friend of the family in Windsor Park (6307 CR 7410, Lubbock 79424).
