MILES FOR MARYVILLE - OCTOBER 22
Miles for Maryville is an annual 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile Run/Walk sponsored by the Maryville City Schools Foundation. This year's race will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022.
Money raised from this event provides for the ongoing enrichment of educational programs for all students in Maryville City Schools. We hope you will join us this year for Miles 4 Maryville! Learn more about the Maryville City Schools Foundation by visiting the website.
NEW TENNESSEE LITERACY LAW
New Retention Law Pamphlet: Your student should have received a pamphlet in his/her Friday folder recently. Its purpose is to inform all families of laws that have been set by the Tennessee Department of Education. These laws, the TN Learning Loss Remediation and Student Acceleration Act and TN Literacy Success Act require school districts to identify K-3 learners not meeting reading expectations on benchmark and TCAP assessments. These students must be provided specific supports, parental notification, and be considered for retention in 3rd grade.
We ask that ALL families review the pamphlet thoroughly and reference it as the year unfolds. We will be providing regular communication on your child's progress, including their progress in reading formally three times throughout the school year after our benchmark assessments. This communication will indicate whether or not your child falls into the three literacy level percentages outlined in the pamphlet. Please also note that our teachers will be communicating your child's reading progress regularly.
