March TOUGH Students of the Month

Ziy’Aira Hudson is the Student-of-Month for the Class of 2025! Ziy’Aira was nominated by Mr. Shaheen and Mrs. Dennis. Mr. Shaheen says that she “treats everyone with the utmost respect” and Mrs. Dennis commented that Ziy obtains her goals by “participating in class regularly, doing her work when she’s absent, and asking for help when she needs it.” So far at CRHS, Ziy’Aira’s favorite class has been band with Mr. Cheezum. She says that “Band has allowed me to view music in a different point of view” and describes the experience of playing as a “powerful emotional feeling…like out of a movie.” When she grows up, Ziy wants to be a police officer and a detective. Ziy’Aira describes being Colonel TOUGH as having “confidence in yourself and those around you.” She notes that the most important part of being Colonel TOUGH is to have heart because “if you have heart, you can do the rest of what TOUGH stands for.” FUN FACT: On a recent trip to Florida, Ziy’Aira was stuck on a plane for two hours and her aunt lost the rental car for 6 hours.

Amanda Benton is the Student-of-Month for the Class of 2024! Amanda was also nominated by two separate teachers. Mrs. France notes that Amanda has heart by “coming to class every day with a smile and a sense of humor.” Additionally, Mrs. Price says that Amanda “was a big help in a class I subbed for this week, and she has gone above and beyond in my class by completing her assignments and helping others in her group to be successful.” When asked, Amanda could not choose a favorite teacher because she likes them all the same. When she grows up, she would like to become a police officer or forensic investigator. When it comes to being Colonel TOUGH, Amanda thinks that Having Heart and Respect are most important. She says that being TOUGH means “being a good samaritan.” FUN FACT: Amanda has a beautiful singing voice.

Meghan Cody is the Student-of-Month for the Class of 2023! In March, Meghan was nominated by Mrs. Burkett for having heart. Her English 11 teacher comments that “Meghan is TOUGH because she is a student who excels in many ways – she is a fantastic student who participates in class and encourages her peers; she is an amazing addition to the CRHS Band; and she is a compassionate, optimistic, and dedicated individual who spreads positivity wherever she goes.” Meghan mentioned many teachers including Mrs. Burkett, Mrs. Stivers, Mr. Cheezum, and Mr. Sousa because “they have all been there when I was at my worst and are always looking out for me. They help me succeed and help me reach for the stars! They are very kind, amazing teachers and I probably would not be as positive without them.” When Meghan graduates, she wants to go to Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania to get a degree in music therapy. She says, “music has helped me my whole life and I want to give others that same experience.” In Meghan’s opinion, the most important part of being Colonel TOUGH is having heart. According to her, “being nice gets you way farther than being mean. Even if people are mean to you, you don't want to feed into it. Just stay positive and do the right thing.” FUN FACT: Meghan has Marcus Gunn Jaw Winking Syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes her right eyelid to move whenever she opens her mouth.

Lamont Evans Jr. is the Student-of-Month for the Class of 2022! He was nominated by Mr. Sousa for going above and beyond in his English 12 class during quarter three. Mr. Sousa says: “Because Lamont went out of his way to work on his assignments, he was able to improve his writing skills and his grade.” Throughout his time at CRHS, Lamont has most enjoyed his English classes, because they are the most entertaining. Lamont does not know exactly where his life will lead, but he has set going to college as a goal for himself. In perfect fashion, Lamont identifies “obtaining your goals” as the most important part of being Colonel TOUGH. He is set up for success!

3. It's time to start getting the senior slideshow together. We need 3 pictures from birth to middle school. If possible, we would like digital copies because that makes things a lot easier. Of course, the sooner the better! :)
