Bird School News
December 2022
Note from Principal Toepfer
Hello CH Bird Families,
It’s hard to believe it is December already! I am grateful for all of our students, staff and families. The old adage, it takes a village to raise a child is so true and I am so thankful for everyone in our Bird village to support our Blue Jays being their best. We will continue our routines, focusing on learning and will continue to have fun together too!
Warm wishes,
Nicole

CH BEST Updates
CH BEST stands for CH Bird's Education Support Team and is our school's SCO / Caregiver Group. We are a group of caregiver volunteers who come together to help create a sense of community and support here at Bird. We help organize family engagement events, show the staff appreciation throughout the year and partner with the other schools to help push equity forward.
Thank you to all of the caregivers who partnered with us this fall! So many of you volunteered for the Blue Jay Shuffle, Fall Fest and have attended our caregiver meetings. We really appreciate partnering with all of you to help support our staff, students and families. We can't thank you enough!
We hope you'll join us at our next family event on January 21st between 10 am and 2 pm to enjoy the snow and go sledding! Also join us Tuesday, December 13 at 6 pm for our next caregiver meeting on Zoom.

Morning Bus Riders
As cold and snowy weather is upon us, here are a few reminders for students riding the bus in the mornings:
● Arrive at the bus stop at least 5 minutes before the scheduled pick up time.
● Wait on the sidewalk or close to the curb if there aren’t sidewalks. Stay out of the road and others’ yards.
● Don’t cross the road until the driver signals and the bus comes to a complete stop before attempting to board.
Students must have their bus tag with them when riding the bus. Replacement bus tags can be picked up at the school. A photo of the bus tag on their cell phone is acceptable. Students may be denied if they don’t have a bus tag and the driver doesn’t recognize them.
Annual Child Find Notice
The Sun Prairie Area School District is required by state and federal law to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities who are in need of special education and related services. This process is known as child find.
