Aerospace Change
The message below is from Amy Timmerman, State Fair SET superintendent:
The SET superintendents just received a phone call from a 4-H leader with a very good question. Rockets such as Viking and Wizard have been identified as a level 1 rocket in the past. However, when you go to the website to look up these rockets, the classification has been changed to an intermediate rocket aka level 2. With this change from the manufactures, we will know be accepting these rockets as level 2 rockets at state fair. Please keep in mind that some of the packages that can be purchased may still say level 1 because I am under the assumption that they are not going to recall the items just to repackage them. Thus to meet the record book requirements, please include the website screen shot that states it is an intermediate rocket. It also will not hurt to have your 4-Hers make a comment about this change in their write up for their record book. If you have any questions or concerns about this change, please contact any of the SET superintendents: Julie Kreikemeir, Lee Sherry, Amy Timmerman
WELCOME MICHAELA SCHULTIS!!!!!
Hello. My name is Michaela Schultis and I am excited to be the summer intern at the extension office this summer. I was born here in North Platte and raised on a ranch north of town. I have enjoyed participating in 4H and the Clover Kids program for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was very active in my community participating in sports, FFA, national honor society, and numerous other activities. I went to Mid Plains Community College my first two years of college and graduated with my Associate of Science and Associate of General Studies Degrees in May of 2018. I am currently enrolled in Chadron State College studying human biology. I have enjoyed my job at the extension office so far and I look forward to working with you all throughout the summer!

Range Judging $5 per Contestant June 25, 2019
Interested in Range judging but not entirely sure what it is? Nebraska is known for being a state with a large amount of range land, which supports our large livestock industry. Range judging involves identifying plant species, evaluating range land, and teaches interaction between plants and soil, and plant and animal interaction as well. An important objective of Range judging is to help participants better understand range land ecosystems in order to make proper management decisions. Join us at the 2019 Range Judging Clinic and Contest on June 25, 2019 at Diamond Bar Ranch near Stapleton to learn more about Nebraska’s range land.
