Reminders for the week

Thank you for another amazing week of school! Here are just a few reminders as we continue with in person learning.

  • Cell Phones are only allowed to be out before school, during lunch, and after school. We appreciate parents supporting us in reminding students of this policy.
  • Please remind your student that they must wear a mask even if they are outside.
  • Students should bring their device to school every day. We have experienced some issues with students forgetting their Chromebooks at home.
  • Remember, Winter Break is December 21 - January 4. Students return to school on January 5, 2021.

Student Late Arrival and Early Pick Up Procedures (after 8:25 am)

For students who arrive at school late (after 8:25 am) we will use the following procedures. Non-essential visitors will not be allowed to enter the building.

Late Arrival Procedure

  • Park in the circle drive in front of the cafeteria entrance.

  • Call the school office (314-963-6450). Let them know you are here to drop off your student.

  • A Hixson staff member will meet students at the door, walk them to the office, help them sign in, and write them a pass to class.

Attendance Update

We have launched a new process for notifying parents about absences. Our system will now send an email notification to parents twice per day (11:30 am and 3:30 pm) if your student is marked absent throughout the day. You will not receive an email if the absence is verified. We are also working with teachers to ensure that attendance is marked quickly and accurately in order to minimize notifications being sent by mistake.

2nd Semester Schedules

2nd semester schedules were mailed home today. When your schedule arrives, please take a look at it to make sure you are in the correct program (virtual or responsive). Please note, some students may have new teachers for second semester. If you need to request a schedule change, please contact your student's counselor by Friday, December 18. This is the last day we can make changes.

Webster Groves Parent Advisory Council (PAC)

The Webster Groves Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is holding its last meeting of 2020 on Wednesday, December 16 from 6:30-7:30 pm over Zoom. We will be joined by representatives from MPACT. MPACT is a statewide parent training and information center that serves parents of children with all disabilities. Its primary goal is to assist parents in their effort to effectively advocate for their children's educational rights and services. The Webster Groves PAC was formed by families who expect that children with disabilities and/or unique learning needs are educated effectively, afforded the dignity of belonging, and valued throughout all WGSD learning opportunities and experiences.

Information about Grades at Hixson

At Hixson, we have a grading policy that weighs formative assignments (homework, daily check ins, quizzes, etc.) as 20% of the student’s grade and summative assignments (tests, culminating projects, etc.) as 80% of a student’s grade. The term 1 grade is calculated using this formula for all assignments graded from August 24 to October 23. The term 2 grade is calculated using this formula for all assignments assigned from October 26 to December 18. The semester 1 grade is calculated using this formula for all assignments from August 24 to December 22. The semester grade is the cumulative grade. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s grade-level principal.

Use this site to submit your request when you are having issues with your student's equipment/access/accounts/etc.


Free Breakfast and Lunch for All WGSD Students

All Webster Groves School District students – whether in the Responsive Learning Plan or the Virtual Program -- continue to have access to FREE breakfast and FREE lunch Monday -Friday.

Meals are available for pick-up at Webster Groves High School and home delivery. Students who have opted for in person learning can choose their meal daily in the classroom.
