Welcome to our classroom Smore page! Here you will see what we did in class this week, we we have planned for next week, and some other important tidbits!


  • Please remember to turn in your registration documents for next year.
  • Library is on Tuesday.
  • PE shoes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Please remember to check the weather before sending your student to school. We have had some pretty warm days, but the rain has also been making an appearance.

This Week in Class

MATH: This week we worked on measurement as a class. Students were introduced to the metric system of length and spent time measuring area and perimeter.

READING: Students continued their group literature circles this week. The students have been doing a wonderful job reading and working with their groups!

WRITING: We began our fictional narrative unit this week. Students were introduced to the concept of fairy tale adaptations. We read a story titled Prince Cinders and compared it to the original tale of Cinderella.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We began our unit on government. Students read about the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the important people who made those documents possible.

SCIENCE: We began our unit on ecosystems and food webs. Students discussed what an ecosystem is and then we drew a food web in our science notebooks.

OTHER: No School on Monday, Ben's Birthday on Wednesday, iReady testing on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Hat Day on Friday!

Next Week in Class

MATH: Students will continue work on measurement. We will discuss temperatures, customary units of capacity, word problems, and take a quiz.

READING: Students will continue their small group literature circles.

WRITING: We will continue our fictional narrative unit. Students will brainstorm ideas for their own fairy tale adaptations.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We will continue our unit on government. Students will discuss local and national government.

SCIENCE: We will continue our unit on ecosystems and food webs. We will discuss natural selection and animal adaptations.
