It takes a village

The proverb that says "It takes a village to raise a child" means more than ever right now. We are so proud of our students for the work they have done in just the first four days of school. We also have been happy to receive emails from families and see the kind words on social media. Why does all of this work right now? Because at the very heart of everything you do as families and everything we do as educators is the very same thing - your children and our students!

I wish you could see the little TV studios that are developing in our teacher's classrooms. I wish you could hear the chatter in our empty halls during breaks about how great your children are.

Thank you for coming to Launchpad meetings. These have been important to us. If you have not signed up for one, we need you - it is the most important conversation we will get to have with you this year! The link to sign up is on the Lakeview website - be sure to choose the correct tab for your child's teacher(s).

If you have to get into a Zoom class and you are not sure how, Go to the website!

If you need to know about schedules or see teacher's daily agendas, Go to the website!

Our "Virtual School Info" page on the Lakeview website (link here) is meant to be the place where you can find everything you need. We will continue to add to this page in the weeks ahead.

Zoom transitions

The first week of school, students had to switch to a different Zoom link for specials (art, music, PE, and library). We are going to switch to a more streamlined process starting on Tuesday, September 8th. You may not even notice it as families, but we wanted to make you aware of it.

Starting Tuesday, specials teachers will join the homeroom teacher's Zoom and take over as the "host". That means students will not need to leave one meeting and join another when they are going to or returning from specials.

That means that your child should rely on their homeroom teacher's Zoom link for all of their online learning at this time. Thank you!

Meal Distribution

Did you know that all children can get free meals (breakfast & lunch) at Lakeview? Please click here for information. Meal service is on Monday and Wednesday from 11:00-12:30. This may not align perfectly yet with our instructional schedule, but by September 14, families will have more time in the middle of the school day to pick up meals.

Next supply pickup

Mark your calendars: we will have more supplies for your children, including math workbook pages and individualized books for reading. You will be able to pick these up on

Thursday, September 17 from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Friday, September 18 from 9:00-11:00 a.m.

We will need materials picked up for every student at one of those times - it will be much faster than last time because we just have one bag to hand out. You can even have a friend or relative pick up for you.

Plan ahead!

Be sure you have looked at the calendars for this school year (link here). If you have a printer, you probably want it hanging on your refrigerator. The 4K calendar can also be found at this same website. The Wednesday early release dates were removed to better accommodate virtual instruction, so if you looked at this before, you will want to look at it again.
