Weekly Announcements & Updates
- Spots are currently available in ALL of our magnet programs which include Visual Arts, Photography, Dance, Theatre Performance, Theatre Production, Vocal Performance, Creative Writing, and Film & Video. Current Lee High School Students, students at other HCS High Schools, and current 8th graders in any HCS Middle School are encouraged to apply to any or our awesome programs by 3pm on April 21, 2022 at https://www.huntsvillecityschools.org/magnet
The Desegregation Advisory Committee (DAC) Public Meeting for Lee Feeder schools is April 7, 2022 and you're invited! This meeting will be held in-person at the Lee High School Lecture Hall at 6:00pm as well as virtually via Facebook Live on the Huntsville City Schools Facebook page. This meeting is designed to keep the community informed about the Desegregation Advisory Committee (DAC) and the implementation of the Consent Order, as well as provide an open forum for the community members to ask questions and provide feedback regarding their experiences with the implementation of the Consent Order to the DAC members.
Prom tickets are on sale! They are $60 now and will be $80 per person the day of prom, which will be Saturday, May 7th. Please see the bookkeeper Ms. Swopes to purchase a prom ticket.
- The Lee High School Art Garden is seeking seed donations: cone flowers, sunflower, zinnia, cosmos, foxgloves, peony, and poppy. They also need pine straw. Please contact Jessica Johnson jessica.johnson@hsv-k12.org if you are willing to make a donation. Thanks!
Shout-Outs
- Shout-out to our Freshmen Students of the Week! Salaya Bone came to us from Chapman Middle School. She will be a part of the Vocal Performance Magnet next year and she is a part of the cast of our Musical Sister Act. In her free time, she enjoys singing, painting, drawing, and creating digital art. She has two older sisters that graduated from Lee High School. After graduating from Lee, she wants to go college and pursue a career in the arts. Bishop Taylor also came to us from Chapman Middle School. He is a part of the Lee High School football team and on the track team he does the long jump and runs the 100, 200, and the 400. In his free time, he enjoys practicing sports and playing videogames. He has 2 siblings and his brother is currently a junior at Lee. After graduating from Lee, he wants to go to college. He is currently undecided but is thinking about a career in geology or some type of science. Shout-out to both of these students for representing our FamiLEE values!
- Shout–out to the girls soccer team! They defeated Elkmont 10-0 on Saturday!
- Shout-out to Freshmen Imani Taylor! She was selected to be a part of the all tournament team at todays New Hope soccer tournament after scoring 9 goals and having three assists!
- Shout-out to the Girls Soccer Team! They defeated Jemison and Columbia last week!
- Shout-out to the Boys Soccer Team! They defeated Jemison last week!
- Shout-out to the Lee High School Freshmen Track Team!! At last weeks North AL Jr. High Gold Circuit Meet the 4x100m relay team won 3rd Place: Jayda Blair-Raby, Shi’Ann Perez, O’Marea Archie, and Jaila Walker. Also O’Marea Archie won 3rd place in the 100m dash!
- Shout-out to seniors Je'Nyiah Silas and Jacari Lane for being recognized at the player of the year banquet last week in Montgomery! Both were 1 of 3 players nominated in their area (boys and girls)!
- Shout-out to the Varsity Boys Basketball Team! The Madison County Commission presented a resolution to them last week for recently winning the 5A State Championship!

- Shout-out to the cast and crew of Sister Act for working hard to promote their show! Last week, they greeted students in the car line at Chapman and AAA and also performed at BridgeStreet on Saturday! They have also been working extra hard to get the set ready and the show perfected!

Notes From The Nurse
- On Monday teachers will send home Scoliosis forms for 9th graders. This is an opt-in screening. Only students who return the permission will be screened. It will be on May 5. If you do not return the form, your child will not be screened.
