Early Life

Born : September 15, 1857 in Cincinnati, Ohio

one of six children of Louisa Maria Torrey and Alphonso Taft. Many Taft ancestors, who could be traced back to the Massachusetts Bay Colony, had gone into law, including William's father, Alphonso Taft. Alphonso Taft had served under President Ulysses S. Grant as both secretary of war and attorney general, and as an ambassador under President Chester A. Arthur.

William Howard Taft, the 27th president of the United States, fulfilled a lifelong dream when he was appointed chief justice of the Supreme Court, becoming the only person to have served as both a U.S. chief justice and president.

He was a optimistic person , who started out as a young lawyer who swiftly rose up in rank. He was then introduced to Teddy Roosevelt and teddy saw a good thing in this man and gave him the option to run for his dream job as chief justice or become president in which teddy and his wife swayed him to do

The Presidency

Taft had an easy victory in the November 1908 election, sliding in on the popularity and endorsement of predecessor Theodore Roosevelt. He assumed the office of president on March 4, 1909, but the rest of his single-term presidency was not as easy.

The Ending

After a fighting to with hold the postion of president between teddy and taft left the gate wide open for the next president to dance right in after losing he got to do his desired job as Chief Justice and lost a lot of weight after.
