SISD Weekly Update
Week of April 13, 2020
Update from Dr. Bland
As we approach the completion of the first month of the Stay Home, Stay Safe Order and at-home learning, I'm reflecting on the resilience and spirit of our community. We have all come together to make the most of this unprecedented time. I've never been more proud of our staff or more grateful for our supportive and flexible families and their commitment to giving their best for our kids and our community. Tiger students, staff, families, and alumni are helping our community by constructing PPE for medical providers, volunteering to provide meals, working on the front-lines in healthcare or as first-responders, operating essential businesses, and serving as government leaders. Tiger Nation is well represented and leading the charge.
I realize that this is an extremely difficult time for many of you. Some of you have lost jobs and others are struggling to find the balance between your career and helping with schoolwork at home. Our staff continues to work and although we are not in the buildings, we are here to serve. If you are concerned about your child's schoolwork, call the district office at 325-574-8900 or email questions@snyderisd.net. Phones are answered between 9 am - 3 pm Monday - Friday. If your family needs meals, take advantage of our meal pick-up Monday - Saturday. If your child is struggling beyond schoolwork, connect with your child's counselor. We miss having our kids on campus and we want to do what we can to help.
Will we meet again within the school buildings this year? That's a question on all of our minds. We are following the guidelines established by the local, state, and federal governments. The Texas Education Agency is communicating with school administrators regularly. At this time, Texas schools are closed until May 4th. I anticipate we will receive an update from Governor Abbott at the end of this month. We are prepared to continue with at-home instruction for as long as it takes.
Thank you for all you are doing to support your children, the community, and Snyder ISD.
Sincerely,
Eddie Bland, Ed.D.
