A Note From The Principal
Greetings!
Our #StLukeStrong focus during March is the pillar of Enthusiasm. This is extremely timely, as it is with GREAT ENTHUSIASM that we announce to you that St. Luke Catholic School has once again been recognized by the Indiana Department of Education as an A rated school!! This outstanding recognition is the result of the hard work of our students, the support of our parents, and the commitment to excellence continually demonstrated by our amazing educators.
With the changing landscape of education, our teachers have, and continue to be committed to ongoing professional growth to ensure that St. Luke continues to provide a curriculum rich in academic excellence to your students. Most recently, our English Language Arts teachers have worked with both Smekens Educational Solutions and with Dr. Jill Jay, the former Director of the Educational Administration Program (EPPSP) at Butler University, to enhance our English Language Arts Curriculum Maps and writing instruction. This summer, our very own Mrs. Elizabeth Finney will be working with the Indiana Department of Education on the development of the state's computer science curriculum. Whether it is through formal curriculum work or bringing extra passion and creativity to the classroom, our teachers continue to put forth great professionalism and enthusiasm towards providing an educational experience rich in academic excellence for your students! We are blessed to have them and VERY proud of the hard work of each of your students!
As I tell the children each day... Be Prayerful, Be Careful, Be Kind!
Blessings,
~Mrs. Kissel

First Grade Retreat Service Project - Shoe Drive from March 5th - April 14th
The first grade will be kicking off the Lenten Season and preparing for their First Grade Retreat with a shoe drive for Changing Footprints. Thank you 8th grade, for leading the way! We are ready to walk in faith while spreading kindness every day!
The First Grade of St. Luke Catholic School is hosting a shoe drive from March 5 to April 14. Donated shoes will be given to Changing Footprints, an all-volunteer shoe charity located at 93rd & Meridian in Indianapolis. CF accepts any type of shoes, from prom shoes, sandals, dress shoes, boots, and others for women to all categories for girls, boys, men, and toddlers. Even sports shoes are needed. Boys’ and girls’ tennis shoes (regular athletic-style shoes kids might wear to school) are always in high demand. Condition is not an issue. Damaged shoes that cannot be given out are ground up by Nike Corporation to make playground surfacing. When you send shoes, please do not tie them individually, as you would on each foot. Just leave them untied. Shoes that do not tie will be paired and rubber banded by sorters at CF.
Last year Changing Footprints sent thousands of pairs to hurricane victims in Puerto Rico, Texas, and North Carolina. However, eighty percent of the shoes are given out locally, including in Hamilton County. Last year Changing Footprints processed more 40,000 pairs, and this year, with your help, the total may be even more.
Please help the first grade class collect shoes for their shoe drive. There will be a giant St. Luke shoe by the first grade classrooms, as well as one in the middle school hallway to collect shoes. Thank you for helping the first grade spread kindness throughout Indiana and around the world. Please send in your shoes! Thank you!
In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

ARCHDIOCESAN HIGH SCHOOL UPDATES
Brebeuf High School
St. Luke Rams,
I hope your 8th grade year is off to a wonderful start! I know that as you’re cherishing your last year at St. Luke, you’re also in the process of pondering which school will be the best fit for your high school career. I invite you to explore Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School as an option for you. Because we value our relationship with St. Luke Catholic School and our St. Luke students and families, we have reserved an entire week of Brave Days just for you.
To ensure that we could accommodate your visit after Quarter 1 and after your Washington D.C. trip, I have designated Tuesday, October 22-Friday, October 25, as St. Luke Week. We hope that you join us for a Brave Day visit during that special week to see firsthand how a typical school day at Brebeuf Jesuit is far from typical.
Thank you for considering our school, and here is the link to register for St. Luke Week. May you experience every blessing this year!
Best wishes,
