Whitsitt Elementary Library

Check us out!

Sept. 8, 2013

Beginning Monday, Sept. 9th, and for the rest of first semester, I will be hosting and assisting Heather Davis with a large second grade intervention group from 2:00-2:40, Monday-Thursday. I plan to keep the library open for check out, but will be unable to schedule classes during this time.

We also have Picture Day coming up and I will also be out for a a couple of workshops, a niece's wedding (yes, another one!), and a library meeting. In other words, time will be tight in the library for a few weeks. Plan ahead to schedule time for your class or small group.

Library Work during the Literacy Block

Have you considered scheduling small group work in the library during your literacy block? I could help students with: further exploration on topics covered in Journeys, learning more about an author or illustrator, creative writing in response to what has been read--there are many possibilities. Not all students would have to come for the same activity. For example, one small group could come for an author study about Cynthia Rylant, another to research jellyfish after reading about them in their basal, and a third to learn about curiosity (inquiry) with Curious George. They could share what they learn back in the classroom.

Book Order Building in Progress

Don't forget to use this form to submit requests for books that you would like to see in the library. Students are welcome to add their ideas as well.
