Book Your Summer
Book Your Summer!
Statistics reported by the National Summer Learning Association state that "most students lose about two months of grade level equivalency in mathematical computation skills over the summer months. Low-income students also lose more than two months in reading achievement, despite the fact that their middle-class peers make slight gains (Cooper, 1996). Fortunately, there are many reading opportunities to keep Braddock Eagles off the summer slide.
- Book Your Summer – similar to a Bingo game, FCPS students are encouraged to spend the summer reading using the READ! activity card as a guide.
- Read for the Win – the Fairfax County Public Library Summer Reading Program begins on June 23. George Mason Regional Library staff will be visiting Braddock to book talk great summer books on the morning of Wednesday, June 15.
