Do you know where you can go to build machines that knock over bridges, assist moon landers, organize exercise equipment, and get cargo to the right place? FIRST Lego League! We are now taking applications for the 2022-23 season for rising 4th and 5th graders and middle school students interested in building robots, exploring answers to real world questions, and excited to work as part of a team to solve challenges! Parent involvement is ESSENTIAL to the program - no experience with robotics or programming is required, and training is provided.
Teacher Appreciation Week: April 25th-29th
Sterling School’s teachers “set the stage” for success! We couldn’t think of anything better than treating them like STARS during Teacher Appreciation Week, April 25 - 29. Our PTA has exciting plans to celebrate our award-winning teachers, but we need your help to roll out the red carpet!
- Monday, April 25th: Write your teacher or any staff member a note and let them know why they're a STAR. There will also be an "Appreciation Station" set up all week where students/parents/visitors can write and drop letters as well.
- Tuesday, April 26th: Take a photo of you doing your favorite subject and share it with your teacher.
- Thursday, April 28th: Bring in a treat from the staff member's "favorite list" to fill up their Swag Bag. Favorite lists can be found here: https://sterlingctcpta.com/#/favorites

School Improvement Council Elections for 2022-2023 School Year
CLICK HERE for SIC nomination form (yes, you can nominate yourself!). Nominations will be open until Friday April 22 and voting will take place April 25-May 2.
What does the SIC do?
The School Improvement Council (SIC) is composed of parents, teachers, members of the school administration and community representatives. The state of SC requires each school have an SIC. The SIC serves as a strategic advisory group to help plan the future of the school and to engage in a continual process of improvement of the school. The key duties of the SIC follow:
- SIC works with the school to develop and implement a five-year school improvement plan.
- SIC monitors and evaluates success in reaching the plan's goals and objectives.
- SIC writes an annual report to parents about the progress of the plan.
- SIC assists the principal in writing the narrative for the School Report Card.
- SIC advises on the use of school incentive awards.
- SIC provides other assistance as may be requested by the principal.
Who should consider serving on the SIC?
Any parent/guardian who cares about our school community and has its best interests at heart should consider serving. No specific professional experience, no prior experience on an SIC at another school, and no fancy resume required.
How can I serve on the SIC?
State bylaws require that this is an elected council. Elections are held in the coming weeks, and interested people should fill out this Google form SIC Nomination Form by April 22 and give a brief statement of why you are interested. Elections will be open for 7 days and new members will be installed by the end of the school year.
What is the time commitment?
Members serve a 2-year term, and the following positions will be vacant in the fall 2022-23 school year. Members can serve a 1 year term if their student is at the upper end of the grade level group.
- K4-2nd grade: two vacant slots
- CTC 3-5 grade: one vacant slot
- 6-8 grade: two vacant slots
Meetings are once a month during the school year, and members can participate via Zoom if needed. The date/time of the meetings will be set based on a consensus of availability among members after the council is established.
