Overview of Senior Events
Spring is an exciting time for our seniors with events ranging from Prom and Awards Nights to Senior Lunches and Graduation! It can be a lot to keep track of, so please take a moment to read through this overview.
Senior families, MHS Student Government and Advisors and MHS Administration each organize events and activities.
Senior Families plan and run: Carnival/Field Day, Senior Walk and Clap-out (new this year) through the elementary schools, lawn signs(delivered early May) and a picnic lunch for the senior class.
MHS Student Government and Advisors plan and run: Prom, Senior Class fundraisers, Spirit Week, Cap and Gown purchases
MHS Administrators plan and run: Graduation and rehearsals, MHS Academic Awards Nights, and help to coordinate awards nights for Boosters and MHS Music.
Senior Expenses
Senior Parent Run activities: Expected cost for these activities is $75 per student. Based on what is raised from families in February, senior parents will organize fundraisers to try to cover any shortfall.
Prom: The actual price of prom will be known in March once details of the event are finalized and tickets go on sale. The price of each ticket was $90 last year, but student government is working hard to fundraise in an attempt to bring the ticket price down. Additional prom costs for individuals can also include dresses, suits/tuxedos, parking and transportation.
Cap and Gown: The cost of the retainable cap, gown, and customized stole is $30 per person.
Financial assistance: Please reach out to Principal Karen Cahill at kcahill@miltonps.org. All calls and emails are confidential.
Parent Organized Senior Week Activities
Senior Class parents/guardians have been meeting to plan a few end of the year events for our seniors. We have an enthusiastic group of senior parents ready to take on these senior week events, but we can always use more help. If you would like to help out with an event, please email Megan Renaud at megmont26@yahoo.com.
We have estimated that the total cost for parent organized senior activities will be approximately $22,000 (Lawn signs $4500, Clap-out buses $3600, Field Day $10,000, Senior lunch - $3000). With 275 seniors, we are asking for a suggested donation of $75 per student. We know this may be a hardship for some families. All seniors will participate in all Senior Week events, regardless of parent donation. If you are in a position to donate less money, or not donate at all, that is fine. If you are in a position to cover your own student and perhaps a part of another students' cost (or any additional amount), that's great! The senior parent volunteers will evaluate what we have raised through this parent ask and then look to supplement with fundraising.
To donate:
- Use this link to donate through Square
- Drop a check made out to the MHS PTO to the MHS main office.
- We are asking that this suggested donation be paid by Friday, March 1 so we can start placing orders.
On behalf of the Class of 2024 - thank you!

Student Government Events
Student Government and Advisors (Ms. Beliveau and Dr. Conaty) organize the big event - Prom! Prom is on Saturday, May 18 and will be held at the New England Aquarium. All details on Prom, including cost, will be available in March. Prom tickets are expected to be in the range of $70-$90, depending on what student government can raise this winter to offset the cost.
Spirit Week will take place May 20-24. Senior class reps work hard to plan a different theme for each day of the week. More details to come.
In addition, student government purchases and distributes caps, gowns and customized stoles. The cost of this is expected to be $30.
School Organized Events
MHS administrators plan and run MHS Graduation, scheduled for Sunday, June 2 at 2 pm, outside on Brooks Field. If the weather does not cooperate, graduation will be held inside, in the Copeland Field house, at the same day and time.
There will be two mandatory graduation practices held the week of May 27. In addition, MHS administrators coordinate Scholastic Honors Night, Senior Awards Night and help facilitate Boosters and Music Awards nights. All dates are listed in the dates section above and can be found in the calendar on the MHS homepage.
MHS Senior Scholarships
Dear Class of 2024,
The MHS Senior Scholarship Application 2024 is now available. By taking five to ten minutes (that's all!) to complete this brief survey on Naviance, you will automatically qualify for almost a hundred scholarships sponsored by local families and organizations. Also please make sure that your Senior Portfolio is thoroughly completed, as we occasionally send that to scholarship donors who want to find out more about you, and review it ourselves. To find the scholarship application, log onto your Naviance Account, go to the blue circle with your initials in the top right corner, Surveys From Your School, and "MHS Senior Scholarship Application 2024" will appear. Complete this survey by midnight on Friday February 16th to qualify!
Secondly, there are a handful of scholarships with separate applications available for your consideration. They can also be found in Naviance (highlight the Colleges tab, see Scholarships and Money on the right, and select Scholarship Search). Copies of the scholarships can also be found in the School Counseling Office.
Please reach out to Mr. Devlin (sdevlin@miltonps.org) or Ms. Beliveau (jbeliveau@miltonps.org) if you have any questions.
All the best to the Class of ‘24!
Mr. Devlin and Ms. Beliveau

If you still need to purchase your senior's yearbook, you can do so using this link. Sales are open until March 15. The personal/family ad spaces have sold out - thank you to everyone who purchased one to help support the 2024 yearbook! Yearbooks will be distributed at the Senior Lunch on Friday, May 31.
FAFSA Information
The 2024-25 FAFSA is now available! Your school counselors encourage all families with college bound seniors to complete it as soon as possible at fafsa.gov, though keep in mind that there may be some periods of downtime, as well as waiting rooms, during this first month of the form’s availability. For anyone needing help with the FAFSA, there are virtual events offering one-on-one expert assistance.
- FAFSA Day events: Join a Monday session offered once a month from February until May to get FAFSA questions answered.
