Read Across America Week
March 2nd - March 6th
Happy Read Across America Week! This is a special time at Worcester where reading is celebrated throughout our school. This year, we incorporated kindness into our reading celebration. Each year, a book is selected for the teachers to read to their students. All students regardless of grade level have access to this book. Our One Book, One School selection this year was The Kindness Quilt by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace.
Thanks to Home and School, a copy of this book was purchased for each classroom and special area teacher. The students in all grades completed a quilt square depicting what kindness means to them. These squares were compiled to create a kindness quilt for each class in our school. These unique quilts are proudly displayed and fill our hallway with thoughts of kindness.
In addition, we are having our annual book swap and reading “Spirit Wear” days during this special week. There are also many guest readers scheduled to come into our school to read books to the children. This is such a wonderful celebration of reading for all of us here at Worcester!

Your Help Is Needed . . .
A few weeks ago, staff members greeted students on their buses and engaged them in a dialogue with their bus drivers to explore what our school wide rules of SAFETY, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, and KINDNESS look like, sound like, and feel like on the bus.
Today, lessons were presented to our third and fourth grade students. We explored what SAFETY, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, and KINDNESS look like, sound like, and feel like inside the restroom.
Please see the attachments below to learn more about our school wide expectations and, if possible, support our efforts by engaging your child(ren) in similar discussions at home. As always, your support is appreciated!
