What is Perseverance?

Perseverance is defined as the continued effort to succeed at goal. This person may have to face different types of adversities. This person needs to have ambition or some hope to keep them striving towards their goal.

Description- Jackie Robinson

In the 1940's the MLB was forever changed. The color barrier separating the whites and African Americans was broken by Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson first started off in the minor league playing baseball for the farm team of the Dodgers the Royals. The coach of the Dodgers wanted to integrate the leagues together. He started his noble experiment to find a player who could preserve through the segregation of baseball. "Blacks have had learn to protect themselves by being cynical but not cynical enough to slam the door on potential opportunities." Branch Rickey, the head coach of the Dodgers, picked Robinson out of a hand full of players because he should the traits they were looking for in an African American payer. He signed with the Dodgers in 1947. He had to deal with balls thrown at his head, racist comments, and unfair umpires but he preserved through all of the hardships. He won many different awards such as Rookie of the year, MVP, and World Series Champs. His ambition will always be remembered.

What can we learn from the perseverance of others to help us overcome our own adversities in today’s world ?

Seeing how people preserver can teach us a successful way that it can work for us. People who preserved through major adversities are labeled as noble people because they changed how people act and think. When people have a strong conviction they need to have a persistent mind to help them work towards their goal.
